Should we run these Amp'D ads or not?

Jan 13th 2006 3:51PM (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)
They don't bother me personally, and I don't think they would bother Amp'D's (?) target audience either, but it appears controversy is what they're selling (not unlike Napster's recent 30 second tease ads). The approve/disapprove buttons are encouraging people who might have an unfavorable opinion on the matter to click through and voice it; the methodology is not unlike the "click here to scan your computer for viruses", or the "smack the monkey and get a free ice cream" ads. I can't seem to find this Amp'D banner right now, so I'm not sure if it actually leads to a poll of approve versus disapprove, or if it simply leads to promo for their service, but I'm assuming the latter. I have a personal distaste for the methodology of this kind of web ad, but not the content. Also: I'm not sure if that's Carmen Electra or not.
