Cuban government site deems Call of Duty: Black Ops 'perverse'

Nov 12th 2010 11:00PM (Joystiq)
@Bewoulf
Um, though Batista had a secret police, that police only targeted the ones that were trying to overthrow him. Batista's Cuba made it the tropical parade it WAS. In the 1930s, 40s, and early 50s it was the richest city in Latin America and the Caribbean. With the Bacardi company taking over and making quite the name. Once Castro's regime took over Cuba fell into a terrible hole. For you to say that it made "Cuba prosper and united" do you not understand why Cubans constantly flee? Why there was a mass exodus of the islands in the 50s and 60s? Those people lost everything, the ones that made the country. People who owned any type of company or building it was taken away by the government. Those people lost everything. They came to our country to better themselves. And now hold powerful seats in this country after watching their parents and grandparents rebuild themselves.

Unlike those now in jail for political reasons. Or the people who have disappeared and have been killed indiscriminately during Castro's regime, since the first minute of the revolution. I imagine those wouldn't like to play this game. The ones who are alive after decades in jail for expressing their opinions would probably like to actually pull the trigger. I can't blame them. Cuba controls its own media.

In any case, the fact that Castro's dictatorial regime—in which individuals have no right to freely express themselves and could be arrested without warrant in the middle of the night—is criticizing a game scene that simulates a fantasy black-op is so hypocritical that it's nauseating

So relax guy. I mean you're name is Beowulf, stand up to a tyrant.. The worst thing we ever did was fail the bay of pigs.

It's actually two moments, in MGS2 at the end when Solid Snake runs and jumps off arsenal gear after Liquid-Ocelot in Metal Gear Ray and when Big Boss jumps off the waterfall from the soldiers in MGS3 in same fashion. I think it really shows the fall (metaphorically of course) that both Solid Snake and Big Boss take. The risk, to save the country they know and even if it meant their downfall (death). Absolutely stunning imagery!

"When I wrote the following words, or rather the bulk of them, I lived alone, in the city, a few yards from any neighbor, in a apartment which was built by some construction company, on the shore of South Beach, in Miami, Florida, and earned my gaming creds by X3F only. I have visited their two years and two months. At present I am a gamer, with a lame library of games."
