Pentax K-x DSLR now official: 12.4MP, 720p video, coming October for $650
Sep 21st 2009 9:45AM (Engadget)The parent asked why someone would choose Pentax over Nikon or Canon. You did nothing to answer the question and gave misleading information about lenses. Why you would bother to try and field a question you don't know anything about?

Sep 17th 2009 3:21AM (Engadget)It's not a 2x crop like 4/3rds, current Pentax DSLRs, like most others, are APS-C, specifically 1.5x crop, so the kit lens is 27-82mm in 35mm equivalent.

Sep 17th 2009 3:11AM (Engadget)That's basically right, ISO Expansion means it's pure software, the sensor hardware is running at the nearest native ISO (200 in this case). Software adjusts the image to the desired exposure, but you sacrifice dynamic range on the low end and increase noise on the high.
This sensor was probably designed for higher ISOs at the sacrifice of lower. (This isn't the first DSLR with the lowest native ISO at ISO 200).

Sep 17th 2009 2:42AM (Engadget)I'm not sure why you would make a comment about Pentax when you don't appear to know anything about them.
The level of backwards compatibility with Pentax is far beyond Canon or Nikon. Pentax has used the same K mount since 1976 and auto focus works on these new bodies with any lens that had AF (screw drive or SDM).
Pentax also makes excellent and unique glass (DA*, FA* and the Limiteds).

Aug 5th 2009 10:20AM (Engadget)No hazmat required.
The EPA has guidelines on cleaning up CFL breakage and they don't include calling a hazmat team. I really don't understand the hysteria. I imagine most people who worked retail long enough experienced a burnt out full size flourescent tube being broken over someones head. Hell, they did it in 40 Year Old Virgin. Not smart, but I haven't seen an epidemic of mercury poisoning from it.
