Wii Warm Up: Try before you buy

Jun 26th 2008 11:01AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Add my vote for demos of WiiWare titles and VC titles.

I've had my Wii since launch day and have downloaded a total of 4 VC titles and 2 WiiWare titles. With VC games I've limited myself to titles that I missed the first time around and knew I would like (ie: Paper Mario 64) the only VC title I bought based on glowing reviews was Gunstar Heroes and, frankly, I think it sucks.

WiiWare has been a mixed bag; I think Lost winds is great and worth the money, GyroStarr however just doesn't cut it. I'd return it if I could.

Demos would definitely help. So would reducing the price of VC title by 30% acrross the board. WiiWare pricing seems OK so far.

Cost: Virtual Console vs. Actual Console

How much a game costs used is irrelevant. VC games are overpriced. It costs nintendo and third parties next to nothing to offer them as a download. They make mad profits (probably at least 90%) on old games that most of us have already paid for once--sometimes twice if the title in question is available on GBA or DS!
I’ve stopped buying VC titles unless it is something that I missed the first time around and know I really want to play.
Bring on the new content, I'm sure I'll be going through lots of Wii-Points once WiiWare titles start arriving.

Wii Warm Up: Is the end in sight?

Jun 9th 2007 12:57PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have seen Wiis on the shelf only twice since launch. The first instance was back in April, my local wal-mart had three in stock. All of them sold while I was waiting to pay for my purchase.
The second instance was about two weeks ago, my super target had five on the shelf--three of those went in the five minutes it took me to look through the new game releases.
I'm glad I waited in line Nov. 19th, I know several people who are still trying to track one down. It doesn't look like the shortage is improving much, if any.

Wii Warm Up: 100 games

The fact that ALL of the releases so far are overpriced by 30-40% does detract some from the service. But--Nintendo has done a great job so far with building the service to the point it is at today. I'd rate it a C+.

All they need to do to raise that grade is original dowloadable content and some more N64 titles (Beetle Adventure Racing, Paper Mario). Lowering prices wouldn't hurt either.

Everybody Does Free Market Research for Nintendo Channel

May 8th 2007 10:29AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Marketing research or not I'm hooked on the the voting channel. Voting the polls is entertaining but the real potential, I think, is that it represents a means for Wii owners to get Nintendos ear. They control which polls are chosen for voting but we can submit any question we want...

I have been submitting the the following type of questions to the channel since day one:
Do you think V.C. Games are overpriced? (Yes or No)
Do you think V.C. Games perceived value justifies current pricing? (Yes or No)
How much should a NES game for the V.C. cost?
(200 points or 300 points)
Should V.C. game pricing be reduced by? (25% or 50%)
Does Wii need an XBOX Live style online service?
(Yes or No ) etc...

Somebody has to be reading the submitted questions, if they receive enough complaints about pricing and online play in the form of questions like these maybe we will see some changes.
