Rumor: Full setlist for The Beatles: Rock Band confirmed

Aug 14th 2009 12:11AM (Joystiq)
This isn't worth it. $60 bucks for songs that i'm probably going to play once, FC, and forget is really asking for a lot.

Hands-on: Guitar Hero 5

Anybody that's in the competitive scene of the music genre will tell you that GH is better. That's not to say that RB isn't good or competitive though. There are different people trying to do different things. Usually the plastic guitarists/bassists will tell you that Guitar Hero is better (mostly GH3), because the songs are harder, and they need a challenge. There's still a whole bunch of people that are trying to FC Through the Fire and the Flames (only 8 people have done it so far) and Metallica's One. When they're done, they still have the insanely difficult Virtuoso and Dragonforce packs to go, which BTW, not as many people have FC'd.

Then again, there are the drummers and the singers that will tell you that Rock Band is better. I can understand the singing, since World Tour's singing engine is broken, and you can't ever get 100% in a song. The drums aren't too popular for World Tour, but with the addition of Expert+ in Smash Hits and GH Metallica, the drummers have a new thing coming to them. Still, RB has a solid drum scene (mainly due to Visions and the Metal Mayhem Pack).

Joystiq isn't the place to talk about the hardcore GH/RB scene though, since there's the share of people that want the genre to die, and there's the other group of people that think GH is "too hard" or has too many sequels. It's too full of casuals, IMO. Usually, when a new GH game comes out, EVERYONE in the hardcore scene is excited. To them, it's not "omg another gh game crap screw you activision i hate youuuu" like it is in Joystiq. It's a mad dash to see who can accomplish X goal first, whether it be getting 100% on all songs in guitar, drums, vocals, bass, or full band.

The casual buyer should just buy one game, whether it be RB or GH, and get on with their lives. You only need one of the games to have a party, The games depend on your taste in music. If you like crappy MTV music, just buy Rock Band, but if you're more into 80's rock and crap like that, get GH. Doesn't matter. The chicks will still play it.

Activision confirms familiar-looking setlist for Guitar Hero 5

The competitive scene in Guitar Hero will always be better. All the expert guitarists and bassists would agree that GH3 is the best rhythm game out there. It's hard to be competitive in RB since everything is DLC dependant. There are less Full Game FC's in RB since all the songs on the disc are insanely easy, and DLC doesn't count. The only way to be competitive in RB is either to play drums to Visions or the new Metal DLC, or Full Band FC all the songs.

More discs means more FGFCs, which is a good thing.

FGFC = Full Game Full Combo as in 100% an entire game. DLC doesn't count, which is why Rock Band fails in the hardcore scene compared to Guitar Hero.

Joystiq hands-on: The Conduit online multiplayer

Just to be clear with the first sentence, I'm talking about knowing it sucks in the time after it's released, and before I buy it.

I'm still buying this, even if I know it sucks.

It's a step in the right direction for the Wii hardcore audience, so it needs to be supported. I don't want what happened to No More Heroes or MadWorld to happen to HVS, where they released a good game and no one bought it. This game is looking insane for a Wii title, and it's only the first step. Very successful sales could lead to a better hardcore audience for the Wii.

They didn't put local multiplayer because it wouldn't have run that well. They already said here that online multiplayer kind of shaved the graphics from offline multiplayer, so just imagine local multiplayer.

It would be cool if you could system link however. That would be awesome.

Pirate Bay founders convicted, ESA praises decision

I'm in a band, and I don't care if my music gets pirated. The CDs come with small posters and a sticker. If people don't want the stickers, they can take the music for free. If they like it, they'll go to our shows. It's not much about the money for us, it's about the fans. The feeling that people like what you made is good enough for us. We have our own jobs, and we can support ourselves.

Just sayin'

Rock Band Beatles footage spotted at Coachella [update]

Beatles = awesome

Beatles: RB = not awesome. Seems like an easy full game guitar FC to me.
