Mark, I really appreciate this post. I think most gamers are aware of the basic issues surrounding downloadable content, but not too many of us understand the legal reasons behind it. It's nice to get a professional take on the situation. Personally, I hope that steps will be taken to give consumers of DLC some protection against questionable business practices. Digital distribution is becoming such a significant part of the media industry as a whole, I can't help but think that things will change soon.

Will consumers have some recourse if they begin purchasing codes for XBLA titles at brick-and-mortar stores GameStop? I realize this is a very new practice and this issue may not have been resolved yet.

@ArtificeDrake formerly known as Hexic HD was packaged free with Xbox 360 external memory units a couple of years ago. I know it came free with my Microsoft brand 512 Mb card. Perhaps that's where you got your copy of it?

Cory, I appreciate you fleshing out some details on the gametypes and whatnot but I'd like to hear some more about your impressions of the game. After all, there's not really anything here that Bungie hasn't already announced.

How does the Marksman Rifle compare to the BR? What are your thoughts on the new control scheme? How's the new graphics engine look? How'd you feel about the new levels? Has Reach maintained the traditional bright and colorful Halo look or has it gone with a grittier style? Do you think Invasion can be revamped to be more fun and, if so, how? Were there any technical or stylistic hiccups? Bungie has given us lots of details already and I think a lot of readers really just want a non-Bungie perspective on the changes.

Overall, though, it was an excellent post. I hope to hear more about this from you and Xav in the near future. Any chance you could get in on the next X3F podcast so you and Xav could discuss your experiences together?
