AMD to shed ATI brand?
Aug 7th 2006 7:33PM (Engadget)At the end, it will either mean they win market share, or that nVidia makes the most of it, since it's the last graphics card maker. If Intel continues to lead the market, then an nVidia graphics card configuration swill be more common than in the last decade.
Of course, it's only a matter of time until Intel buys out nVidia.

Jul 18th 2006 2:41PM (Engadget)I also think that the expiration date of the content will confuse people who have known that everything on iTunes is forever yours with no strings attached.
It seems it would've been more proper for this service to launch with the full-video iPod, creating more hype and curiosity, but oh well..
The best way to go is to use DVD Shrink or CloneDVD and stick to Netflix until HD-DVD players get cheaper.

Jun 24th 2006 7:14PM (Joystiq Xbox)Baseball's best players (Pujols, Sosa, Pedro, Bernie, Delgado, to name a few) had humble beginnings, playing baseball with paper balls. That proves that if people like a sport, they will play it no matter how.
Football is the world's sport for the reason a handful of people just can't appreciate: it's beauty.
When our country learns to appreciate the tactical and technical ends of the game we will be able to have more followers.
But yeah Hockey is a great game don't get me wrong. Just don't talk smack about a sport that is beyond one's understanding or frustration of not knowing what the fuss is all about, for the sake of introducing a meaningless, merely marketing announcement (Wow! a cover athlete story!). This was bound to happen.

Jun 24th 2006 1:36AM (Joystiq Xbox)The entire 2006 FIFA World Cup (64 games) will be viewed 5 billion people. The people here are a minority, that due to the very nature of this country's foundation, have remained isolated to the sport (as we Americans wanted to forget everything from Britain).
In 50 years time, I doubt we will remain enthused by pumped-up 300 pound batsmen hitting 60 homers a season who lie to Congress about using a drug without their knowledge.
The only commendable US sport is basketball, and we're pwnd by countries like Argentina and Lithuania.

LMAO. In football (soccer) players don't wear all the padding that hockey players wear, and unlike Hockey players, soccer players rely on natural, kinetic displacement.
Billions disagree with your opinion, that such as linear game as hockey is better. I forgot what countries play hockey... oh yeah, only nordic and cold countries and the US.
Football (soccer) is the sport where ATHLETES run up to 4 miles per game, and can lose up to 2 pounds after each game. To wrap it all up, football is the sport that requires more fitness, technique and aerobics than any other sport out there. Justifiably, it's also the most passionate and poetic sport period.
Baseball is mos-def a very boring sport, in which I've lost faith in due to endless steroids coverups. Well, at least nobody has been killed by a 'flying object' in baseball...

Major League Baseball not a fan of placeshifting
Jun 7th 2006 5:18PM (Engadget)All this BS about Extra Innings makes no sense, after all we all use to pay for WGN, TBS and all those other FOX Sports networks in our cable bill. Hopefully soccer can be more popular in the future. I don't know but baseball has turned too lethargic and pathetic to watch, especially as clowns like Barry Bonds, seem to do a greater good for MLB, moneywise.

Jun 7th 2006 2:16PM (Engadget)Czechs win 2006 World Cup! (sort of)
Jun 6th 2006 12:57PM (Joystiq)If Mexico can beat Iran in the first game, draw Portugal, and have a better goal difference, then they can have first place.
Serbia and Montenegro is the same team that forced Spain into a playoff after finishing first in their group. They are a physical team that has clinical finishing. I doubt that with Mexico's 5'7" average height, they can even score on Serbia. Mexico seldom wins against a European "A" side. No way will Mexico defeat Argentina, not this Argentina with Riquelme and Messi. Mexico crashes out on penalties yet again this summer.

Jun 5th 2006 6:06PM (Joystiq)I expect one thing for sure: Brazil won't win. I think that Brazil hasn't played against a Top Ten team other than Argentina (in qualifiers) and that defensively they will suffer.
I think that England's gambling an awful lot by waiting for Rooney to recover that I think they might end up making it as runners up in their group, then having to face Germany, who will undoubtedly finish first in their group.
I think England needs to avoid Germany at all costs in the last 16, because Rooney will probably be fit by the 2ndor third match, and he'll need time to be loose enough.
My prediction in Group C is that Serbia will take the group ahead of Argentina, and a younger than usual Holland. Serbia and Montenegro will then go on to eliminate Mexico, who will end up as runners up in their group and face Germany in the quarter finals.
I would really like to see Brazil tested and knocked out early on in the quarter finals, and what better team than the Czechs. The Czechs have the tallest, most technically gifted European side, that unlike Italy, has a very offensive game.
If England make it as first place they'll eventually run in to Argentina, or the much-favored Czechs, who'll have to beat Spain.
All I can say is that the Czechs are going to go far in this WC...
