SOE answers Vanguard free-to-play questions

I'm fucking old dude.

yes, the days when EQ ruled the gaming world and major news papers covered stories about EQ players commuting suicide (over getting ganked and looted by other players who conned them into believing that they were friends) with the incompetent fervor of AD&D coverage in the 80's, is not that distant of a memory for me in the grand scheme of my gaming experience.

so yes EQ, and SOE in general, is still part of POP-ular culture by my standards.

WTF?!?!

I got down voted for saying that I would try the game?

*shrug*

I'll give it a shot, I've stayed away from SOE games before but I've gotten more and more curious about their infamous sandbox centric mechanics as the years go by.

EQ just isn't my thing (too pop culture, even if it did loose to WOW it's still pop in my eyes) and with SW:G shut down there isn't many other titles they have that interest me.

Ubisoft hopes to negate the need for DRM with support and content

@CompanyPressence

DRM aside, Ubi is one of the few publishers remaining that provide dedicated PC releases.

I can't comment on their console ports of games like ass creed, 'cause I haven't played them, but for the most part Ubi is the only major publisher that DOESN'T treat PC gaming like a red headed step child.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned how more advanced classes are unlocked by leveling up combinations of basic classes.

getting lvl 5 with the wizard unlocks the priest class, then getting lvl 5 with the priest unlocks the Archer, and getting level 5 with the archer unlocks the rogue.

etcetera, etcetera ...

higher grade classes are unlocked by combinations of other classes, like how the assassin requires you to have reached lvl 20 with both the Wizard and the Rouge.

and while death may wipe out the current character, your class unlocks and what level you have reached with each respective class persist (kinda like achevos in the case of class unlocks and high scores in the case of the max level you have gotten).

here's a guide if my ramblings aren't clear enough.

Colonize the New World: Salem opens beta sign-ups

@pancho72

no, it is a pyramid scheme ... not exactly to farm up beta participants, they will get those just fine when the game is actually -IN- beta, but instead this is a pyramid scheme to farm up more E-mail addresses to add to Paradox's mailing list.

... and probably not just for the salem mailing list, you can most likely expect to get plenty of mail about Paradox's other titles while you wait for the beta.

(not that paradox is all bad, they did give us GamersGate after all, but this still really pissed me off)

now we all should start up multiple e-mail accounts and sign up using each others links ... that way we ALL can get into the beta that Massively forgot to mention hasn't started yet.

.... maybe it was an attempted favor to omit the beta link.
