Didn't those games play much faster than Demon's Souls? That's more of a question of fun rather than skill, since being able to memorize patterns both mentally and physically is definitely a skill. Fighting games are another good example of this.

I liked what I played of Demon's Souls but I definitely understand where SisypheanLife is coming from. There are people who say that trial-and-error is rewarded by increased skill and progression, and then there are people who say that same process is marred by the punishment of frequent deaths, which require equally frequent backtracking. I don't think either is necessarily wrong, just comes down to personal tastes/time restraints.

So did I, this was really a great review. I actually read it twice.

It feels like it was written by David Wong, the guy who wrote the comedy/horror novel John Dies at the End.

I'm pretty sure by "off-hand grenades" he meant that the grenades have their own button, seperate from the other weapons.

And someone admitting they're wrong on the internet? My mind almost sploded.

I assume they changed the controls in part so that people can turn and melee at the same time. I hold the controller differently (right trigger with middle finger, face buttons/bumper with index) so I'm just going to use the Recon control scheme where B is melee and RB is reload. The other changes seem pretty small.
