I hope they let the marketing dept go. Until this bad news hit I didn't even know it was coming out on the Xbox/PS3. Would I have bought one? Probably not, but maybe if they at least tried I may have gotten one for the kid.

You may consider that prior to the unfortunate events during Bring Your Daughter to Work Day the Aperture Labs were filled with scientists, test subjects, and certainly security personal. This could represent early tesitingof the device. The fake cityscape could even be the perimeter of a test sphere seen in the 'old' sections of the labs.

Perhaps if you view the video in that setting your preconceptions and expectations won't ruin something that you otherwise might enjoy.
