Rumor: The Hobbit movie tie-in games coming from Monolith

Apr 2nd 2012 5:28PM (Joystiq)
@TheBrainninja

I've always wondered why they don't just have an established RPG developer do tie-ins like this. Normally, I suppose the market isn't big enough to spend a good team's time on a movie tie-in, but with a property like the Hobbit, they must have figured the game could have some extra longevity. I haven't gotten my copy of Xenoblade yet, but it's cool to know what their next project is already.

Wow it really is true what they say about sarcasm on the internet. I thought your comment was hilarious.

I liked Shantae and Monster Tale a little, but they don't hold a candle to the original inspiration. They're just too repetitious and slow-paced for me. Fans who want more Monster World action should play the Popful Mail games on Sega CD and Super Famicom (They're both different and awesome--The Turbo CD version of Popful Mail wasn't as great though) and of course Super Adventure Island II.

Also, buy this in April and maybe Sega will get M2 to make Monster World IIDX.

Also their actual games. Fantasy Zone II was GOTY 2008.

This is great. While other companies are hoarding their games, Atlus looks at a low return / low risk opportunity and says "Why not?"

@Rowsdower That's definitely what I want to know. I really want this if it is being made by Camelot, an in-house team, Hal, or Grezzo, but I will skip it if it comes from Next Level Games or Monster Games.

@Sift

I feel the opposite. I'm sick of wasting time on half-baked low-budget games, but this looks worthwhile because it is a real full-budget arcade game. I don't know how much they'll charge for it, but as an adult I care much more about how much unfun filler is in a game than how much it costs.

So do you still have to be online to play Final Fight?

I'd call this "Capcom's Outsourced Embarrassments Collection;" it looks like they weeded out the games that were actually made in-house.
