Here's my $.02 - how many people use the same e-mail address and password for PSN, XBL, Steam, etc.? We know 2 of those services were officially hacked in some capacity in the past year. Even beyond those services, people are creatures of habit and will use the same password on multiple sites. I know that I used to do that. That doesn't mean that MS was hacked or is even doing anything wrong in this case. The XBL situation is coming to light because the family pack "feature" is allowing hackers with this data to log in and then transfer themselves large numbers of points/purchases. Isn't that the general M.O. of the "FIFA scam"?
If I remember correctly, the $50 amount is correct, but the unwritten piece of that is that the transfer also included the massive licensing liabilities for all of the music included in the games and as DLC. So, I think that some amount of financial backing was needed to support the music library (without which Rock Band would have been useless, not to mention a royal legal mess). Perhaps someone with a stronger grasp of the legalities can explain it better.
@GuardianLegend The flares were far from auto-kill everything weapons - they would give you breathing room, but they actually did not kill most of the taken instantly. It would weaken them and keep them at bay while you regrouped, but no instakill. The flashbangs and flares were more potent, but fewer and farther in between.
For me, the "simpler" combat options combined with (at times) limited ammo to create a much more pronounced sense of dread than you would experience in other games. There was many a time, especially on the higher difficulty, where I would need to make the choice between trying to stand and fight and kill the taken, or to just throw down a flare and book it for the next light spot...and when that light spot flickered out as I approached it? -gulp-
