Sony 'bringing home' E3 too, on PSN

#31 - manic

"Infact, Bill Gates said that Halo 3 trailer (with those two kids lying on the grass) WAS AN INGAME VIDEO. Why hasn't anyone said anything about that? Is it because everyone loves Microsoft and hates Sony?

Talk about double standards!

And yes, William Gates did say that. He said it was an in-game video when it was clearly pre-rendered."

Sorry, nice try, but he didn't say that. In fact, Bungie said, numerous times, before and after it was released, that it was CG.

Bungie turns up Halo 3 heat: new details, campaign screenshot

Jul 6th 2007 1:51AM (Joystiq)
@Jake

"Also, this screenshot is worthless. You only see Master Chief in cutscenes."

Lies. You see the Chief while in vehicles, while using turrets, and (in h3) while carrying heavy weapons.

Also, as Frankie says on the NeoGAF forums: "It's not a cutscene, it's a carefuly posed screenshot from Campaign. You can carefully pose and take your own screenshots in Campaign, in the game, in Sept 25th. You can recreate this pose exactly."

Come and get it: Halo 3 Public Beta Guide

@10

Press invites and Friends and Family invites for some members of Halo and Bungie community sites. Usually there's been about 500-1500 players on at a time for the last few days, and probably less than 10 thousand total.

Dead Rising and Lost Planet to remain Xbox 360 exclusives

@70 "those PS3 games are the equivalent of how MS publishes Gears of War and Halo 3."

Halo isn't just published by Microsoft, it's owned by Microsoft. MS bought Bungie in 2000.

Sony against the world

"There aren't any good games? LMAO; Resistance Fall of Man beats any launch title the 360 had last year."

I'm sure the Xbox 360 1 year ago today is wounded by this. However, this isn't one year ago today, this is today. Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas both beat out Resistance, both of which are on the 360, none of which are on the PS3.

Sony against the world

@22 Dave Mendez:

I'm not sure you understand the concept of "choice". If you want everything there, then yes, buying a PS3 will cost less for what you need (except for, you know, games). I, however, do not need an HD movie player nor a wireless internet adaptor. Even if I wanted to watch HD movies, I could download them off XBL, which you can't do on a PS3 yet. With Xbox Live Gold, this brings my total to $450, plus access to a year's worth of games. The choice for me is obvious.

Also, your math is flawed. You forgot to add the price of a headset and HD cables to the PS3, which you get with the 360 premium. And you forgot to add the price of another 2 wireless controllers to the PS3, which you added to the 360's price. Plus, no guarantee your PS3 won't fail after warranty, either. Better add that as well, just to be safe.

@46:

"It's kinda hard to watch HD movies without paying for the Choice to be Online and paying for the Choice to store that HD movie onto the Choice Hard Drive you'll need. No matter how you cut it; that's 100.00 (hard drive) and 50.00 (Xbox Live) Bringing your 299.00 Core system up to 450.00 and you still can't play an HD-DVD!"

It's actually incredibly easy to watch HD movies without paying to be online. Sign up for free Xbox Live Silver. So that's $400, HD movies, and $100 less than a PS3 (which remains with no HD cables in the box, so $120 less, more like it).

Your entire argument is based solely on HD movies. Say a person wants a console to play games? $450 with a year's worth of games vs. $500 and a single game. Hmmmm.

"Let's toast Sony! I hear their computer division will offer customers a choice of Operating systems (OSX or Vista) HA! That's all MS needs now!"

Ahahahhaha. Sony's selling Apple computers now? If you weren't retarded, you'd know OSX works on Apple's computers only.

Bungie Studios is not located in Redmond anymore, they moved to Kirkland about a year ago.

Halo 3 Starry Night commercial

Dec 5th 2006 1:11AM (Joystiq)
Great commercial, loved it. Reminds me of the Halo 2 cutscene on the map pack for some reason.

For people talking about the Brutes: Frankie from Bungie did a quick Q&A session at an IRC channel I go to, here's his answer:

masterskill: Group at the end with the wraiths(?); brutes, or some new folk?
Frankie: Brutes
Frankie: One has a hammer
Frankie: Those are Wraiths
Frankie: New Wraiths

In stock Xbox 360s help Microsoft get its wings

"I think it's pretty ridiculous to think that people are going to be going around shopping for a PS3 or Wii, see that they're hard to find, and then buy a 360 instead. Parents aren't going to disappoint their kids by buying a system that their kid doesn't really want."

Generally, kids are not fanboys for one system. If a regular kid asks for a Playstation 3 and receives an Xbox 360, he won't freak out and say how worthless it is (unlike some of the kids posting here), he'll simply play the games and have fun with it. No kid will ever say "I don't want an Xbox 360! Microsoft's business practices in the past have been highly questionable and their operating systems are buggy!" or "I don't want a PS3, with all the PR screw-ups and manufacturing difficulties they've had!" Kids just want to play games and have fun, and parents know this.
