IGN reminds readers that the PSP isn't selling as well as the DS

Dec 10th 2006 2:07AM (Joystiq Playstation)
"If you'd like to accuse IGN of "the bias," you may want to note how they only mentioned briefly that PSP's performance is better in America."

Actually, they said this: "The battle is a bit closer in the U.S., though Nintendo retains a strong lead month-to-month. In November, likely the busiest sales month of the year, twice as many DS Lites were sold as PSPs." This isnt being brief. They just stated that DS Lite sold twice as well as PPS in November, instead of dishing out two sales numbers which say the same thing.

Andrew Yoon, you failed to mention how, according to the IGN article, PSP has only sold 2.8 million games this year while DS has sold 27 million games. If you will mention how IGN might come off as biased to some, you may want to check your self as well on that front.

Dual analog mod, now 95% less scary

Dec 7th 2006 3:04PM (Joystiq Playstation)
ahh fanboy stupidity and denial at its best. if you bothered to play or read up about MGS: Portable Ops, you would know what i'm talking about. You cant use the dpad and left analog nub functions at the same time in MGS: PO. With a dual analog mod, you can. without the mod, your left thumb keeps hopping back and forth between the dpad and left analog nub. feel free to misquote me out of context now.

Dual analog mod, now 95% less scary

Dec 7th 2006 2:04PM (Joystiq Playstation)
This dual analog mod is perfect for MGS: Portable Ops. Use the left analog nub or dpad for movement while simultaneously using the right analog nub for camera control (or vice versa). The modder would just have to make sure the right analog nub function is mapped to the left analog nub or dpad, instead of mapping it to the four face buttons.

Gamespot: Xbox 360 games look better than PS3 ports (for now)

Dec 7th 2006 8:09AM (Joystiq)
Conclusion
The Xbox 360 had better graphics in almost all the games we examined. The 360's biggest victories were in Madden 07 and Fight Night Round 3, where the differences in texture detail and lighting stood out in our comparison shots. We couldn't capture this in the screenshots, but the Xbox 360 games generally offered better framerates too.

Dual analog PSP becomes gaming's hottest video

Dec 3rd 2006 1:47AM (Joystiq Playstation)
the reason this dual analog PSP mod is so appealing in the PSP mod community is because it tries to correct some of the flaws of the PSP hardware design.

Flaw number 1 = placement/design of the analog nub. its located right below the dpad and is very uncomfortable to use because of the nub design.

Flaw number 2 = only one single analog nub. since there is only one analog nub, the player has to use it along with the face buttons for main game control/movement in FSP games. the face buttons are horrible for game control, mainly because you cant move diagnolly easily. using a dpad or second analog stick is much more easier and comfortable. this is the reason the "stick a coin on the face buttons" mod is so popular within the PSP mod community.

just like this YouTube shows, this PSP mod lets you play FPS games more easily and comfortably. use the left analog mod for camera control, and use the right analog mod for forward/backward/left/right/diagnol movement.

even though the right analog mod is digital (the left one is true analog since it replicates the function of the original analog nub), its still much more comfortable than using four face buttons to move around. and its awesome that you can plug both the analog mod sticks out. kudos to the PSP community for trying to correct the hardware flaws of the PSP.

PSP dominates on list of games for parents to avoid

Nov 30th 2006 8:23AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Strike 1 was PSX (not to be confused with original PlayStation or PSOne).

Strike 2 was PSP.

Strike 3 is PS3, Sony you are out!

And both IGN and GameSpot have rated more DS games in the 9.0 to 10.0 range than PSP games in that same range.

PS3 broken straight out of the box

Nov 24th 2006 2:13AM (Joystiq)
hahaha poor PS3 owning sucker!

this is how i rate each company's hardware quality and customer support:

Nintendo: 1st rate hardware, 1st rate customer service
Microsoft: 2nd rate hardware, 1st rate customer service
Sony: 3rd rate hardware, 3rd rate customer service

DS games are more original says Pocket Gamer

Nov 23rd 2006 7:30AM (Joystiq Playstation)
zjoe,

the PSP itself is an inferior PS2. inferior graphics and inferior controls (single analog nub and only two shoulder buttons). this is the reason its not doing as well as the competition. do u expect everyone to buy a portable inferior PS2? no.

the DS offers a uniqueness no other system has, and thats why it sells like hotcakes all over the world. and the reason the GBA still kicks ass is because it also offers something no other system offers in a dedicated way, which is that old school 16-bit goodness. yes i know XBLA also offers retro gaming, but the library cant be compared to the GBA library in quantity or quality.

Joystiq Cares: Proper Wii-mote usage

Nov 22nd 2006 10:15AM (Joystiq)
How about using one of those Wii Gloves for extra protection? It should keep the hands dry and rough. Hey! What if a 3rd party manufacturer made a Wii Glove that extends to your fingers? Picture a Wii Glove molded into a hand glove! Now that's an idea!

Which PS3 are you buying? (Assuming you can find one and have the option.)

Nov 16th 2006 4:07AM (Joystiq)
The $250 version with superior motion sensing and wifi standard.
