Correction, the game looked like crap to you. Different people have different tastes, just how some people didn't like MW2 though a lot of people did. If you haven't played the game at all judging it isn't an option. Playing 4 hours of a 25-30 hour game isn't a "review". Getting stuck happens to all gamers as well; Get off your high horse man, no one else here is on one. You guys really need to start thinking for yourself instead of being so influenced by people.
Well Just because you fail at gaming after 25 years Justin, doesn't mean the rest of the world does: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-W8fiPhJzE see how I caught the fish (actually two fish) in under 30 Seconds? That requires 25 years of... wait I mean that requires you to learn to play the game.
It wasn't a "better time fishing" really. I just followed the X on the map, and fished. I pulled back on the control stick as you would in any fishing game while reeling in a fish, and fought it by going diagonally as the rod on the screen moved. I haven't even touched the manual of the game, as that is something I rarely do until after I have finished the game and wanted to make sure there wasn't something I missed. That fishing part however is the least hard part of the game, try when you are around 9~13 hours on (depending on your questing style). You come across a boss made of blocks, rows and rows of blocks. You have to only destroy the ones glowing red, meanwhile the boss is all projectiles. Or you get into a puzzle room with statues shooting things at you, however you are not allowed to run in the room, use magic, or anything other than a regular tip toe/attacking; If you do you are teleported back to the start of the room. I didn't mean to make my other comment sound so harsh, just that I too am reviewing Nier right now, at this very moment. (took a break to eat that's why I'm on the PC). I have so far found it to be an amazing game. The graphical engine may be a little on the lacking side, but once you are used to it the game looks amazing in it's own way. Especially with the HDR and Bloom type effects that happen all through out the game. It is like Vagrant Story mixed with Legacy of Kain. What is not to like? (So Far)
Yes, you did have to fight to reel in a can. However if you actually ever went fishing you would know that because of the resistance of the current versus your string and whatever it is attached to sometimes in-animate objects can seem like your reeling in a fish.
