Nov 20th 2006 2:30AM (Joystiq)Rayman is a hoot - I wish they'd make an entire game out of the plunger-shooting games. I *am* annoyed that you can't switch the setting as to which hand you hold the remote in and which hand you hold the nunchuck in, because during the beat-matching levels I have to switch components.
Red Steel's controls are going to take a while to get used to. Looks like an arcade game, which I can dig. Getting the machine gun is satisfying.
I'm personally fine with the sound on the wiimote for now, although I would like for them to eventually come out with a wiimote that has better sound quality.
Haven't tried Zelda or CoD3 yet - my arms are quite tired so I'm waiting until tomorrow.
Overall, the sensor bar has been pretty good - have tried it below and on top of the TV with few problems. Remote responds well and seems pretty accurate to me.
I made a Mii, but I probably won't use the feature (or the message board stuff) that often. I look forward to new channels. Text is very readable on the screen.
Kudos to Nintendo for making what looks to be an amazing console, and to 3rd-party developers as they seem to have gotten the hang of things early. This won't be like the DS where it took 3-4 months for developers to figure out what they were doing, I expect some amazing games to come out in the next month or two.
Where have all the nunchuks gone? [update 1]
Nov 19th 2006 4:36PM (Joystiq)One thing I will say, though - bundling the two together would make for a $60 controller, and that's just not cool. At least you'll hopefully be able to get cheaper third-party nunchucks soon. Personally, I plan to hold off on getting two more controller sets until I'm in Japan and the exchange rate favors me.

Violence escalates during PS3 launch [update 9]
Nov 17th 2006 3:07PM (Joystiq)However, I've just been following coverage on Joystiq, Kotaku, Destructoid, Fark, and CNN. I'm more or less appalled, as a gamer and as a human being, by how this has been handled across the board. I think that the retailers and Sony need to be held responsible in one way or another for this fiasco that is mostly of their own creation.
Of course, it's not totally their fault - the hype that the gamers themselves have created, the willingness of people with money to burn to pay greatly inflated prices for consoles on eBay, and the greed of people who are willing to go at great lengths to get one to sell are to blame as well, and I freely admit that.
Still, the poor planning by retailers and the repeated 'musical chairs' incidents are inexcusable. I walk with a cane, and had I not been able to get in line simply because I can't walk that quickly, you better imagine I'd be raising quite a bit of hell.
