Sony, Samsung both claim "world's first" 200Hz LCD TV

Sep 2nd 2008 4:25PM (Engadget)
The point is that 200 Hz has 8 frames in the same timespan of a single 25 Hz frame or 4 frames if the source material is 50 Hz. Those added frames can be used to add motion interpolation to the video which makes it look silky smooth.

But I think it looks fake and not like the original was intended to be seen. I'd much rather get a TV that supported 24 Hz and 25 Hz instead of this one.

And it's not about blur because that is caused by the pixel response time, and response times have fallen to 2 ms or lower which is good for 500 Hz or more.

N+ creators stand behind their anti-XBLA rant

Of course a lot of games on XBLA suck. Thats the point! It was made for publishing games that would never sell in retail. And that's why you have a demo version of every single one of them!

Blackout Monday: virtual boycott targets GameSpot, CNET sites

We have a right to not visit their site and not read their biased reviews. You might not see what the big deal is, but I want to get honest reviews to make my game purchasing decisions.

They gave 8.8 to Call of Duty 3 and I bought it because of that score. But that game turned out to be ass, in fact much worse than K&L, which I got after hearing Justin McElroy talk about it on Joystiq Podcast #26.

Keyboards with multiple shift keys have been done before just look at the 360 chatpad or the space-cadet keyboard from decades ago.

The "999,999,999 in 1 Super Game" system

This is just an NES clone (actually a Famicom clone). The games are probably all pirated ROMs which have been hacked to have lots of variations. That's why you see Mario on the cartridge (which also looks just like a Famicom one). The gun-looking thing is the Zapper.

I honestly can't understand why this is news, they've been doing these things for the last 15 years.

European PS3 ad takes a step back ... into crazytown

Nov 5th 2007 4:40PM (Joystiq)
As a European, I find myself agreeing with Justin McElroy in this case.

I don't want my "living" to be like that. And how is any of what's going on in that video associated with the PS3 at all?

"games based on movies that sell more copies than more artistic games"

I think it should also say:

"Crappy sequels and uninspired, derivative movies sell more copies than more artistic movies."

Which just indicates the falling level of culture in our society as a whole.

Most likely Famicom ones.
