Lexus holding spring sale on F-Sport packages for IS and GS models

May 10th 2010 6:56PM (Autoblog)
Considering that installation is included in the price..I would say it's not bad
The first package = springs, swaybars, and chassis brace for $1500. Going aftermarket would probably cost you $900 and then you have to pay for it to be installed. OK but not great.
the next step costs $3000 more, but you get forged 19" rims with Michelin PS2 tires (pricey!). A set of 19" forged rims will cost more than $2000 and Michelin's ain't cheap especially the PS2's.
The brake upgrade seems expensive, but comparable to the aftermarket..$4500 for a front and rear BBK is a standard price..but considering they install it for you that is a good deal

Report: Next-gen Mini Cooper to match diesel efficiency with turbo DI inline-three

May 6th 2010 4:23PM (Autoblog)
well a 2L turbo 4 with modern tech (twin scroll turbo, variable cam timing/lift, direct injection) can easily do 300hp with no sweat and minimal lag

so lop off 1 cyl and 1/3 of the displacement to arrive at a 1.3L turbo 3..if you assume modern tech..I think 180 hp will be no sweat

Schumacher reportedly getting new chassis for Spanish GP *UPDATED

Apr 24th 2010 12:32PM (Autoblog)
In the 2010 F1 season, the chassis are homologated at the beginning of the season so they can't be changed in designed. So while he may be getting freshly built chassis at Barcelona, it will be identical to his old one and to Rosberg's.

It maybe stiffer because it is newer, but they will not "wind up running two different cars"

Stanford researchers harvest electricity from algae, unkempt pools become gold mines

Apr 15th 2010 1:44PM (Engadget)
@Michael Pollard I was thinking the same thing..nevermind they are gold, but having to stick something in each individual cell is so labor intensive...im sure they will come up w/ new processes over time..but the way it is described up top pretty much limits this to laboratory research right now
