12 Days of Joyswag: Enslaved Collector's Edition resin statue and game

Dec 15th 2010 12:25PM (Joystiq)
I picked up Enslaved the day it came out. Why?
First Heavenly Swords story and motion-capture acting made me a fan of Ninja Theory.
Andy Serkis as a character is always a good thing.
K-Mart had a deal where you buy Enslaved you can get a game credit/coupon for your next purchase or something like that. Kmart has the new game deals for the win!
Tripp reminds me of Nariko a bit and Nariko is hot.
I will share the game with my brother who lives out of state now that I've beat it. It needs another addon story besides than Piggy's story.

Sony announces LocationFree LF-B10, LF-B20 and LF-BOX1

Apr 24th 2007 2:27AM (Engadget)
Scott,
I used to own the LF-B10 LocationFree Base Station but returned it after a week because I couldn't get that base station to work with the PSP though it says it should, help support wasn't very helpful either and I didn't have the time to try to figure it out so ended up returning that unit. However it did work pretty well when using my laptop as a locationFree client, I have a cable modem so the speed wasn't too bad, however the software did work rather slow and used up a lot of resources on my laptop, so I couldn't do much other than just use the locationFree client software on my laptop and pretty much nothing else. My laptop however isn't top of the line, its a P4 1.3 Ghz and about 4 years old. I have heard people talk about using and enjoying the old LF-PK1 base stations, which are rather cheap to find now, but I might just hold out until there is a sale and try out the LF-B20 with the wireless soon. I was hoping to possibly get the LF-B20 base station with a LF-Box1 (TV Box) receiver so I could use the LF-Box1 (TV Box) on a different TV in a different location to stream my cable and DVR to without the need of a computer or other location free client device.

I haven't looked into the slingbox but it probably is the best alternative since that is their sole business so they probably put more time and effort behind their products and support as well. If I don't get a LF-B20 then I might look at the slingbox. Again though if you're interested in the LocationFree base stations, probably its best to buy from a store that has a reasonable return policy and try it out for a week or so and if it isn't working out return it for a refund. I had success doing this at CompUsa but the only reason I ended up returning it was due to my not getting the LF-B10 up and running with the PSP successfully. My hopes is the LF-B20 has better and easier support for the PSP as a locationFree client.

Well if I find a way to get a LF-Box1 (TV Box receiver) to try out stateside I will give a review of it somewhere on the web if this engadget thread and link isn't still available. First I need to find a LF-B20 for a reasonable price to try out first, hopefully it works even better then the LF-B10 does at least when using a PSP as a client.

Sony announces LocationFree LF-B10, LF-B20 and LF-BOX1

Thanks Scott again for the update and clarifcation. I did end up finding out you could buy an LF-Box1 from the amazon.co.jp website however it lists that that item will not be shipped outside of Japan. So for now I have no chance I'll be trying out a Japanese version of the TV Box receiver anytime soon. It was a good idea though to have a non computer based receiver but only if they lowered the price so it was an easy choice for owners of a LocationFree base station to make, if they wanted to add another TV or other type of client without a PC needed in the mix. Thanks again for the details on the TV Box and yes it sounds like its been killed off here.

Thanks for the heads up Scott, you won't believe this but I was searching for the LF-Box1 to order today but couldn't find it in stock anywhere and saw that sonystyle.com no longer had it up though I thought I remembered seeing it there at one time maybe as a pre-order. Anyhow, do you know of where the LF-Box1 might be offered? Maybe in Japan? And if so do you think the Japanese model would work in the states if so? Thanks again though for the news , though its dissappointing, that the TV Box is not coming.

Sony marches on through March -- two victories at once!

Apr 20th 2007 3:28PM (Joystiq Playstation)
If I'm not mistaken, the price drop wasn't official until the first week of April, so this shouldn't have been a factor in the March sales of PSP, or am I getting something wrong here, just seems like people were attributing the PSP gains due to the Price drop but from what I remember and can find the price drop occurred the first week of April. Oh well, probably my mistake or something.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 reviewed

Feb 2nd 2006 5:02PM (Engadget)
I just got the Neuros MPEG 4 Recorder 2 yesterday in the mail, it worked relatively well but would like to see hopefully MP4 (AVC) h.264 codec as a file format soon.

My biggest gripe is that if I take the input into the neuros from my Digital Cable DVR box and then take the output from neuros and put it into my TV. The only way I can just watch tv it seems is to have the neuros recorder turned on, and then put the recorder into the preview state. Why can't the input signal into the neuros just short and be delivered to the output signal automatically when the neuros recorder is off, why do I have to have it turned on and in preview mode to watch TV. This is rather annoying since I have to then change cables when I'm not using my neuros to put the DVR output into the TV directly vs. going through the neuros recorder.

Anyhow hopefully its just something I'm missing and will figure out with the recorder and I won't have to swap input outputs when I am going from viewing to recording but anyhow its not a bad product besides these gripes.

CES: PSP LocationFree TV details

Jan 9th 2006 4:05PM (Joystiq)
What is really cool about this is that I could rig up a security camera at home and then be able to keep tabs on my pad when I'm on vacation or at work via the PSP. Or if you have pets at home or kids or whatever you could monitor them or whatever from afar.
