I want something out of the deal and it had better be clearly tangible. "Well the game would cost $10 more and have worse graphics" isn't going to fly with me. I refuse to be pimped. I will not buy any adware games without concessions.
I believe that Microsoft is allowing Sony to get carried away with a soon-to-be obsolete technology. If Sony invests a huge sum in this technology and it is as short lived as Microsoft hopes, Sony will never recoup the investment it laid out and it has the potential to cause significant financial damage to Sony, giving Sony enough rope to hang itself. Now I'm not a 'doomsday prophet' and it won't be the end of Sony, but gives Microsoft that extra leg up, however small or large.
The Red Cross's emblem? I thought the red cross symbol was a universal symbol of medical help. The Red Cross decided to use this symbol even though they knew it was a universal symbol, belonging to no one, ergo they can't claim property rights. If this mentality was present during any of the world wars, I bet the Red Cross would be trying to sue/threaten the United States Government. Don't they have something better to do with my donation $$? I tell you I'm thinking twice about that donation this year.
A live service was a the #1 decision maker for me. Xbox 360 was my choice. This changes everything. An internet browser is also at the top of my wishlish. If I'm paying as much as a computer costs, give me the functionality as a bonus. Looks like I'm gonna have my cake and eat it too. Now if they would only do something about that double dildo controller.
Why is it that some joystiq readers have such a difficult time reading? If I was going to ridicule something, I certainly wouldn't make myself look like an ass in the process.
I'm not so sure I want to allow invasive ads into my gaming experience without something tangible in return. The blanket promise that the additional revenue stream will allow developers to create better games is iffy at best. Developers will still be rushing games to production.
I paid for the game, online subscription, and internet access, ergo I should be able to rent out my electronic real estate. I believe that if gamers don't send this message early, we will quickly beome pawns of the advertising industry. Let's not let this one get away from us.
