Three password apps to protect yourself from trouble like the Gawker database hack

Dec 13th 2010 11:09AM (Download Squad)
I use Keepass in conjunction with Dropbox to achieve veritable password nirvana. Even my android phone can get in on the action. Lastpass never really did it for me.

That said, I've been having a bit of a problem with it since switching to Chrome as my daily browser. Every time I use Keepass' auto-type, it pops up with my Google login as well as the one I want. Has this been happening to anyone else?

The Bright Side of Fantastic Fest: Animated Features Reviews!

Oct 5th 2010 5:27AM (Moviefone Blog)
I saw Summer Wars when it first came out in Japan last year, and enjoyed it immensely. Bright yet quiet animated features are such a rare treat these days. Mamoru Hosoda's other film, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, is similar in style, if a slightly more personal story.

Joseph 'Tron: Legacy' Kosinski's 'Oblivion' Gets a Screenwriter

Sep 11th 2010 6:18PM (Cinematical)
Sounds a lot like Space Battleship Yamato, what with the mysterious woman in the escape pod. I think Kosinski is a great fit for such a movie, but am skeptical about the choice of screenwriter. Then again, Kingdom of Heaven was competent, at the very least. Perhaps we'll just have to leave it to the no doubt stunning visuals to convey that sci-fi sense of wonder?

Medal of Honor must sell 'at least three million copies' for sequel consideration

My cousin's actually working on this game! Go MoH! More like Call of.... Poopy, am I right folks?

Please don't ban me, I'm hoping to parody the fanboys, not become one!

Adobe releases AIR 2, standalone SDK download coming soon

Jun 10th 2010 7:07PM (Download Squad)
In my three consecutive systems, with WinXP, OpenSuSe and Win7 x64, AIR not only hogged memory, but completely devoured it until the system was rendered unusable. Every time, I was all "surely it's better this time." So yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.

VIA reveals 1.6GHz Nano DC processor at Computex, shows it handling 720p (video)

@DBG
Seriously, a dual-core VIA offering with some ION magic going would be epic in an HTPC. Ah well, we can dream...

Microsoft responds to Google's internal condemnation of Windows; puzzled looks abound

Partially, but if you consider the cost of deploying an update across a company with tens of thousands of employees worldwide, it's got to be huge. I'd be interested to see how this shakes out, financially. It's a strange decision overall, especially because they can't specify what hardware they want. Still, I doubt this is really a political move, it seems more a combination of knee-jerk reaction and (possibly) sound business sense. After all, striking against Microsoft at the expense of security would be profoundly stupid, something of which I wouldn't readily accuse Google.

No, he has a point. Linux and OSX are both UNIX-based, and the fact that their user bases are so small are among the main reasons both have fewer well-publicized exploits than Windows.

@ThomasBags Via's been in the game for a long time. They use Intel's x86 architecture, but have always focused more on small form factor and embedded stuff.

Man, I love VIA, but with Intel's big push for mobile and embedded stuff, their x86 stuff probably won't be able to keep pace. Hope I'm wrong though, for the sake of mini-itx lovers all over.
