Yes, yes, I get that there are different reviewers. It's just interesting that the reviewer treats "XIII was awful and hugely flawed" as the baseline consensus, so as to be able to make the case that even though XIII-2 improved a ton of those flaws, it's still a pretty mediocre game.

It's actually really more a condemnation of the original Final Fantasy XIII reviews. You can go back and look at the Metacritic, and it wasn't critically savaged. But now, when we're looking at XIII-2, suddenly we can write with the background knowledge that everyone agrees XIII was awful.

My favorite part of this is how you spent a lot of the review going "XIII-2 fixed a lot of what was wrong with XIII, but still kind of sucks. Three stars"...

...and Joystiq gave Final Fantasy XIII four stars.

Okay, so, people WON'T know what Adeptus Astartes means...but they WILL look at "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine" and think "Ah, yes, Space Marine is the canonical title of a W40k faction" rather than "Wow, they couldn't think of a good title to save their life, could they?"

Anyone who knows enough about W40k to begin thinking that Space Marine isn't an asinine title knows what Adeptus Astartes means.

Just because the actual faction name is really Space Marines doesn't mean the title isn't really bad. They could at least make it Warhammer 40,000: Adeptus Astartes or something.

Honestly: This. There are very few games out there that do what Mass Effect does: A big sci-fi universe with multiple cultures and people to talk to. A tech-noir thing sounds totally awesome.

But baffling indeed that this is supposed to be a sequel to Prey.

THQ, generally speaking, I like you guys. Red Faction has historically been cool. Dawn of War is still great. I haven't played Metro 2033, but I want to. Saint's Row is rad.

But from the sounds of it, you've put out a couple of bad games lately. It's okay that people didn't like Homefront and Battlegrounds. You don't have to come out with identical statements for each game about how they're actually way better than their Metacritic scores. If you want to be one of the big boys, you have to accept the fact that sometimes not all of your games will be well-received.

I thought the DLC was massively overpriced, but I'm pretty lukewarm on Black Ops. There's a pretty decent chance I'll grab it, since 10 maps for $15 is more or less reasonable. I have a hard time imagining that EVERYONE will abandon MW2 as soon as Black Ops comes out. Heck, I can still find really full games of CoD4, and there've been two CoD games since it.

It's really about time they dropped the price of MW2 itself, though.
