Does Behemoth count as indie still? Cuz their booth was fire and my pick for best-of-show.
Also, I played Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. Three times. It was awesome, and definitely one of my most anticipated games. I was ridiculously excited for it when I heard it was gonna be in the mix for PAX a few days before I got on the bus.
Fallen Frontier was terrific, though I could tell it wasn't quite done (the explosions were measly and seemed like placeholders).
The new Dishwasher game was freakin awesome too, it's a definite download, even though I was never fully sold on the first one. They got the mix right this time, and the devs even admitted this when I spoke with them.
Also, Slam Bolt Scrappers, that sold me. I played it before I left on the last day and downloaded it on PSN type-quick.
I really didn't play much of any AAA stuff at PAX, and no I don't think I missed a damned thing.
- Bringing the very finest gaming experience XBLA has to offer - it really rubs that shitty Sonic remake's face in the mud (or meat)
- Selling it for 10 bucks, which caused me to purchase it with no hesitation.
Plenty of stores offer bonuses to pre-orders and early adopters of boxed titles, why is this the first XBLA game to do so? I gladly celebrate this concept and hope it becomes the norm.
This crew has spent forever on this game and have ended up with one of the very finest platformers ever made...truly, a game that boils the genre down to its essence, with plenty of surprises and an impressive level of shine.
Sometimes you find those games that let you know this to be true in the first five minutes: It's gonna be a good day.
Does this DLC actually provide any extra item drops?
If it does, I get it. I really do. It's just one level, but you're supposed to play it a bazillion times. So you supposedly get hours of gameplay for 5 bucks.
I get it, but it's bullshit. The players for this title have dropped exponentially. The freakin DLC was already finished and ready to go (it had made the torrent rounds the week the game was released) so I know they could have included this in the original download, or at least the following week when people still cared. The characters are done too.
They could've thrown their few diehards a bone and made it cheaper and more inclusive. But to keep in line with the cruelty the game's farming philosophy entails, they decided to piecemeal it AND make it too expensive.
I thought the DLC might make me turn this game on again but I think this is a big middle finger to the fans. They won't get my 5 bucks.
I thought the demo was utter shit but I'd maybe give it a shot, just not for 15 bucks...
The game felt stiff and unnatural and I've seen more elegant combat in a crappy newgrounds flash game.
What I want to know is: where are all the people still playing crash commando? I picked that up recently and it's a blast but damn...there's usually like only ONE game being hosted. I want to buy the add-on pack but it's not really worth it, right?
Deathspank was a ton of fun, and is definitely girlfriend-crack. It's interesting that the two games that seem to have turned my girlfriend on to "gaming alone" have been Limbo and Deathspank, and she's slowly making her way through both as I work nights this week.
The couch-co-op is sadly really only a girlfriend thing...I can't see a fully-fledged, card-carrying GAMER being satisfied with playing as the 2nd player poof the wizard or whatever his name is called. But seriously, my girlfriend loves it.

@(Unverified) I had buyer's remorse as well. It was a fine game at first but its problems are legion. I think much of the voice acting - especially Alan - is of limited quality, and my girlfriend who will normally tuck in for a nice Silent Hill session of couch-gazing was so turned off by it and the marionette-like 2nd gen animation she had to leave the room. I know it sounds like nit-picking but for a story-based game to have critical problems with how the story itself is delivered is an almost game-breaking crisis.
Some elements of the game are good but I'm scratching my head as to all the love it's received. It is well worth a play through, contains some genuine surprises and picks up after the halfway point quite a bit, but I sold it on Amazon almost immediately after completing it. It's been my biggest disappointment of the year so far. I honestly and truly don't even care that I won't get to play this DLC.
