'Pokemon Conquest' brings Nobunaga's Ambition stateside on June 18
Apr 4th 2012 3:19PM (Joystiq)Actually, older versions of Nobunaga's Ambition were released for the PC in the US many years ago. It was a turn-based strategy game in which you played as the leader as one of the factions trying to conquer Japan.
It was essentially like Rock Paper Scissors, with archers, calvary and swordsmen, and you had to micromanage rice production in each region a bit.
It was from KOEI and yes they also had a similar game for Romance Of The Three Kingdoms as well. At least one or two of those also made it overseas.
As they do now, KOEI would pump out new versions of Nobunaga and ROTK every year, and its core of fans would buy them. Every year.

Apr 4th 2012 2:49PM (Joystiq)My year long quest to defeat Grandia 2's (almost) final boss
Mar 29th 2012 4:12PM (Joystiq)I also don't remember the final boss battle being that hard at all, and GameFaqs always had the answer if you got stuck or wanted to make sure you found all the items in an area.
I wasn't over-leveled or anything and I certainly didn't have all the skills as some just needed a huge number of battles to unlock or something.
SoulCalibur 5's upcoming DLC has maid costumes, more swimsuits
Mar 19th 2012 3:51PM (Joystiq)And how is that any different from the American Catholic School Girl or High School Cheerleader?
Let's face it, Japanese males are hardly the only ones to have such a fantasy. They're just a lot more open and honest about it is all.
Report: Obsidian hit with layoffs; South Park team affected, future next-gen title canceled
Mar 14th 2012 7:56PM (Joystiq)Forget unemployment, I wonder if that guy has any hopes of winning a lawsuit against them for falsifying a contract or something.
Layoffs don't just happen overnight. They take months to plan due to all the legal rigamarole that's required. There's no way this guy could have been hired without the company higher-ups being aware that layoffs were in the making. If a company is doing that poorly they have to do layoffs, they usually stop all hiring at least a quarter or two before layoffs are even put on the table. Bad, bad management. I hope that guy can go down the street and get a new job at the same pay or better.

Mar 14th 2012 7:51PM (Joystiq)The WARN act only applies if they're laying off over 10% of the company I believe.
Even then, they could just decide to throw in 2 months pay+benefits on top of the severance package like my last company did when it lopped off 10% of its employees (including me.) Yeah, we were all paid to go look for a new job. This was their idea of 'cost cutting.'

Onimusha Soul is Capcom's first browser game, coming this summer
Mar 12th 2012 3:22PM (Joystiq)In the original Onimusha you fought against demon-Nobunaga.
It would be neat if you could play as demon-Nobunaga against, say, Ogre-ized Iieyasu or something.

Mar 7th 2012 3:03PM (Joystiq)Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought he saw that same thing.
Problem now is I can't unsee it. And I'm really not a racist person. I'm really not, but I can't keep thinking Nintendo should have named this "Mad M*h*mm*d Monkey Madness"
