The Game Archaeologist mourns the end of EQMac

Feb 15th 2012 2:02AM (Massively)
@JohnD212

I agree with the free server transfers but that's not necessarily what that community likely would want.
It's not like there were a bunch of people who went out to buy macs just to play on this EQ server, it seems like it was just a small, dedicated, community who happened to play on the only mac server. I'm sure a large number of those gamers also own a PC that could handle EQ. It's the loss of their server and community they are sad about, not just that it's harder to play EQ on a mac now.

Not So Massively: MOBAs, shooters, and dungeon crawlers

@Cyroselle

I signed up last summer and got in a few months ago. I haven't put loads of hours in, but its a very solid diablo-clone/arpg. I still get bored with the hack n slash after awhile though.

WAKFU puts out a call for (paying) pioneers

@Professer

I get what you're saying about having to wipe a sandbox, but they just had a wipe before going into open beta in early Jan. Before this seemed to wipe fairly regularly and spoke about wiping. This time, for open beta, (a rather short open beta too, especially compared to how long closed was,) they haven't said a word about a wipe. I'm certainly not ruling it out, it just seems more unlikely when they have been moderately transparent about wipes in the past.

Does this show signs that there won't be a wipe before release at the end of the month? It seems like they probably won't if they are having people drop cash now.

@Shadowbender

It's great but it doesn't take too long to collect almost all of the available items. That being said, I've played about 20 hours since its Monday release.

One Shots: Yes, that is pretty awesome

I have wanted to get into Vindictus since its NA launch but the game gives me the worst server side lag I've ever experienced in a game.

I have a great framerate for my own character, but everything else in the world seems to stutter like mad. Even if I go into a mission alone, the mobs and world effects move like a slideshow while my own character moves silky smooth.

Anyone else experience this / know my problem? I never got much help when posting on their forums.

Yeah it's a really fun game, the dog-fighting is surprisingly good. So far the community has been really friendly and helpful as well. I actually started watching BSG AFTER playing the game for a time.

My bad, you're right, I hadn't looked much in account management. What is the benefit of being verified?

LEGO Universe launch day roundup

I did NOT have to do this. I purchased a box copy at Target today and the signup was typical.

As for the game, its been fun so far. I've heard the content is lacking but hopefully more worlds will be added soon, if not I'll probably refrain from subbing. The minigames are pretty cool, It seems like it would be quite easy to set up some pvp/competitive type minigames, hopefully they implement something like that in the future.
