If done well, you won't notice you are "enjoying" the rumble. Rather than making you think about how it's improving the experience, it subtly increases your sense of immersion.

It is funny that Sony can't yield to customer demand. MS had no problem redesigning the gamepads when people complained that they were too large and ugly. It just seems odd to be basic features away in the year 2006/2007 - especially from a $500/$600 console.

I think that they are mistaken if they don't believe that the Wii is eating into the would-be PS3 purchasers. However, this is not because of shortages as much as the absurdly high price of the PS3. $250 makes sense to a mainstream gamer (the type that Sony used to cater to). Sony's $500-$600 price tag is scaring off all of the casual PS2 fans I know.

Several PS2 fans I know have no plans to buy a PS3, but are getting Wii's this x-mas season. They were all really excited about the PS3 until they heard the price. Parents will still buy them for their kids, but guys 18 to 32 with crappy jobs just aren't going to be able to justify $600 + $60 games that aren't getting great reviews.
