Insider Trader: Who keeps the shards?

Mar 7th 2009 1:35PM (WoW)
"I will also say that I really don't think it's fair that people come into a dungeon and we tell them they have a right to anything into a dungeon."

Bad typo I meant tell them they do not* have a right to anything in a dungeon. xD

Insider Trader: Who keeps the shards?

Mar 7th 2009 1:32PM (WoW)
Well I am kind of torn by the whole issue. As an enchanter, I have always sharded the gear and let everyone have a chance to a fair roll. However as of late I wonder just how fair this system really is.

I mean with the recent changes and the need for shards/crystals I feel a bit underhanded having spent so much money to level a skill to sometimes step into a run where I will need said shards/crystals to up my skill and walk away with nothing.

I know that sounds like QQ but let me just address a self defeating argument that I have seen and heard time and time again. Gatherers who are in dungeons really need to stop this argument that they "Deserve" the mats they get from nodes. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time I checked most nodes aren't right inside the instance , so you need the rest of the group to clear that trash before you can even reach your precious node, so as you have been a pivotal part in downing that boss, we have also trudged it out clearing the trash so you can even get to that node of yours. Do us non gatherers now rightfully own a share of your spoils?

I like the idea of the group offering up a shard to the enchanter. I will also say that I really don't think it's fair that people come into a dungeon and we tell them they have a right to anything into a dungeon. Well rather then hide behind a mask of greed or not state that I'm an enchanter..... how about a roll off for the vendored trash and myself as the enchanter offering even a portion of the price of a shard or crystal.

Now I know it isn't the full cost of the shard, but the person winning the greed roll has walked away with more money then if she/he has been forced to vendor. I do not believe this is unfair, however this is something that needs to be addressed in an attempt to globalize some stable rule so that this isn't always so confusing on grouping.

Are disenchanters getting robbed by rolls?

How about this......

I'm an enchanter.... so for the people complaining about losing money from being able to vendor the blue, The enchanter takes the blue, gives the person who rolls greed the cost of the vendor item and then (enchanter) gets to keep the shard. That seems fair. I get shards to level my skill, you get the gold for the item. (But not the same amount as the shard I get, if you want that good deal, level the profession yourself ;)

Another case of turning the blame to video games and media when what we have here is another example of bad parenting without being willing to accept responsibility. Epic fail.

Just to play devil's advocate.... whether or not you think someone gets paid too much money does not justify your reasoning to pirate. Copying copyrighted material like that, is illegal. So ultimately it becomes a choice based on ethics and morality to boot. And yes to say that downloading video games contributed to the recession is a ridiculous statement I agree. (Waits for someone ot start talking about the recession xD )

Well pirates in general function using the "free rider "philosophy. They expect a large margin of people to acquire the merchandise legitimately so that they may benefit from it in the long run. However they know that what they are doing is wrong... despite the fact they may never outright say so; if everyone followed their philosophy then games or any type of entertainment medium would force to exist. Hmmm well that is just some consequentialist thought to absorb.

But that being said, I would have to agree with most other posters. I'm content to purchase games rather than pirate because for me game collecting is a hobby. I enjoy playing games as an entertainment outlet so I enjoy having something I can look back on saying " Heck, I have a great collection of games!"

I also feel that if I downloaded games all the time I wouldn't appreciate them as much. When you pay for something, you tend to value it more. I mean these are just my opinions so they don't hold much weight. As well it's a great way for me to get back at the wife for buying 3-4 of the same shirt ;)
