Well, while I agree a bit of variety would be awesome, I think there's a reason they do this with the starters, and it's because it's supposed to work kinda like rock-paper-scissors in the sense that one choice has to be weak against the other choice, and that other choice must be weak against the next choice, and the last choice must be weak against the first one. It could definately work with other choices, but I guess Nintendo just felt it worked better with grass/fire/water types.

Final thoughts: I'm still getting this game when it comes out, and for all we know, they may have awesome evolution forms. As for the new human characters, well, their hair is a little on the crazy side, but they don't look too bad.

The only one that looks remotely cute is the pig mostly cause the color scheme on his head makes it look like he's wearing a bandana. The grass type... admittedly, I always go for the grass types because they're well-balanced. They don't improve too much as they evolve, but they don't start off all that sucky either. However, I am tired of how they are the only ones who are still limited to being reptiles whereas fire and water types have finally gone beyond that. I liked Treeko because he was the first truly fast grass type, and unlike the others, he doesn't gradually slow down as he evolves. The only thing I like about this new grass type is he's thin therefore he looks like the kind who's supposed to be fast. His look... it weirds me out. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just... weird. He looks like a cross between a duck and a dragon. Meanwhile, the water type just frightens me. I'm not kidding, it scares me. I look at it, remember how adorable past additions were and die a little inside.
