Right, some people don't have the means to get their 360s online... Those people are not the ones complaining about it on joystiq comments, however. ;)
I can't even tell, the art style in this new game is so bad. The originals had a great art direction, the animated Love For Sail looked like a dirty Disney movie, and even MCL had an appealling, if entirely anime-inspired aesthetic (along with borrowing the Warner Bros' ElmerFudd-style for the protagonist...).
This... This looks like they gave an intern two weeks and a copy of 3D Studio Max. It wasn't even an art intern.
Honestly, if this entire video were done with stick figures, it would have been more entertaining, appealing, and truer to the IP than this crud.
Larry is supposed to be a short, balding, dorky, pot-bellied loser in his 40s. He's not a lanky, spikey-haired big-nosed kid who has probably never even *heard* of a leisure suit. Meh!
Did you play the demo? How in the world would you plan on incorporating the PS Eye?
I think in trying to prevent trading squabbles, they completely broke the wagering system. Who will even take a chance on playing this if there was the possibility that if they lose, they'd lose the cornerstone of their deck? That would be like going to Vegas and instead of just sitting at the $10 blackjack table, they asked you to insert a credit card and the bets would be completely random and you'd only find out what they were after the fact.
"Oh, you doubled down! You made $20 bucks!" "Ouch, you shouldn't have split, you just lost the deed to your house."
wtf? Do these guys have any common sense at all? No trading function either. They should have just set up different tiers of value for these cards and let the players decide if they wanted to override these defaults to make an unfair bet.
Are you high? You're suggesting that instead of hitting retry, people should stop complaining and turn their car around and drive BACK to the starting point to initiate the race again?? ... What???
While we're at it, lets get rid of save points too. People are just being lazy, let them start from the beginning if they die or have to take care of something else.
Hm, you're aware that it's reactions like this that are the reason third parties are getting burned trying to support the Wii, much like they did with the Gamecube, right...?
Pachter is crazy. If "killer app" exclusive first party titles like Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted are bombing with under 100k in sales, what makes him think that EA will see it as fiscally viable to re-engineer the engine from the ground up to bring out a late port of an RPG, which traditionally does not do as well? ESPECIALLY if they didn't see it as viable to release Burnout Revenge on the PS3.
EA may be known as the King of Ports (Porterhouse, if you will), however there have been occasions where lust for profits have been tempered by common sense. They killed production on a PS2 version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, and that left money from a platform with an over 100 million install base on the table.
Mass Effect will not be coming out on PS3. If anything, EA will force them to release it on PC, but a PS3 port would just be throwing money away. (and speaking of money, feel free to pass along that check here, Mr. Pachter, you obviously no longer have what it takes to be an analyst. ;) )
