Well, I walked into EB today and had my broken Xbox 360 replaced. I'm on number five now and I have every reason to believe that this baby won't be lasting too long. Bearing that in mind, would anybody like to make some bets as to how she'll last? The person who comes the closest will earn themselves a free Wii game of their choice. Let the games begin.
On a side note, the fact that nearly every Xbox 360 is doomed to break at some point in time has taught me to appreciate the system while it is working. Tonight, as a finish up an hour or more of Lost Planet (if I can get that much out of this unit), I expect to take a deep breath and thank the heavens above for the glorious bounty of functioning hardware. Unlike Wii and PS3, which keep on going, you just never know with Microsoft's system. So my advice to everyone is to enjoy your blessed time with the console and never say anything hateful to it for every play session could be your last.

Sony has made more money than any other movie studio in three of the last five years. Now they break their own record in raking in the most money ever at the U.S. and Canada box office in one year:
What does that mean for Blu-ray (as well as the PS3)? It further cements the fact that as far as next-gen movie playback formats go, Blu-ray has a brighter future than HD-DVD. All of these 2006 movies are Blu-ray exclusives in the future, meaning anyone wanting them in HD will HAVE to get a Blu-ray player (or a PS3). Consider these other facts (props to theforce8686 for finding some of this info):
- All movie studios except Universal are commited to Blu-Ray. A number of them are not making any HD-DVD versions at all, like box office leader Sony (Spiderman 3 in '07-woohoo!), Fox (Star Wars, Aliens, and Die Hard franchises), and Disney (including Pixar's awesome flicks and Pirates 1-3). Only Universal is exclusive to HD-DVD, and they have been averaging near the bottom half of all of the big movie studios in how well their pictures do over the past few years.
- Of the top 25 highest grossing films of all time (translated, the most popular films), 16 are by companies that are exclusive to Blu-ray, and 8 others are on both formats. Only 2 are exclusive to HD-DVD.
- Next year, there are currently more than four times as many Blu-ray movies listed for release than HD-DVD
- Average price of a Blu-ray movie (about $23 on Amazon.com) is less than the HD-DVD average price
PS3 hurting Blu-Ray? Wow what a stupid website Joystiq is. The PS3 is BETTER than any stand alone player out. So most people that own a Blu-Ray player that don't even play games owns a PS3. This is well documented by most audio and video magazines and websites. Do some people prefer HD-DVD sure. How that translates into "PS3 is hurting Blu-Ray acceptance" is laughable. Blu-Ray has the most backing from the industry and that's what's most important.
What a shock. Content cut because they couldn't fit the game on 1 DVD. Good luck getting Square and Level 5 MS. I'm sure they will be happy to make 5 disk games for you. Blue Dragon already takes 3 LOL LOL LOL
However, it is petty to say that PS3 is quieter than 360. It most definitely is not.
The PS3 on the side of my X360 disagrees with you. It is clearly quieter although it gets hot like all consoles. Nobody who has a PS3 and an X360 will tell you the PS3 is louder when playing games and it's no contest in idle or playing a Blu-Ray disk. It's so sad to see trolls come out to complain about an early build of a game they supposedly played. If I based all my purchases on early builds then I sure wouldn't be picking up Halo 3 when it comes out. Fortunetly I don't ride the short bus like most of you.
