I got very excited thinking this was another story pack like undead nightmare. Having read the article I'm depressed. The MP is great and all, but I miss John Marston.
@Ninjasoup There are a hell of a lot of games slipping through the cracks. I didn't realise until yesterday that No More Heroes was already released for the PS3 in Europe almost two months ago! The game seems to have gotten zero exposure and marketing and as a result will sell poorly, just like the two games in this article.
Man I've never seen such whining from this comment section about game sales figures. The hilarious thing is that I know that most of the people despairing over the poor sales of these titles have not bought them either! I cannot comment on the quality of either game, although I do plan on picking up CoE when it's released for PS3 as it looks different and enjoyable. I will say that this is the nature of any entertainment medium: Well marketed, easily recognisable titles get big sales and market share. They are also often well made games in their own right (Zelda, Uncharted 2, Mass Effect). People are surprised and lamenting that niche games with almost no marketing sold poorly? Gimmie a break!
I may well get downvoted for this, but I'd prefer to see the record go to something like a Metal Gear, an Uncharted or something with a lot of heart like The World Ends With You, however unlikely. Having said that Black Ops is a fine game that I still play to this day.
@nerdydesi1 I think that there are a number of factors that play into this console cycle being far longer than longer. As stated above me, the extra costs that came along with this generation along with the high price point are causing, I believe, people to want a longer time period on their investment. Added to these factors IMO is that graphical fidelity has come to the stage where any jump will be of a more incremental nature and as such it'll take a while for people to feel the need to move on. Plus, we're still in a global recession and the cost for developing games is huge as it is, I doubt many developers will desparately want to jump onto a new generation. And I disagree that this generation is coming to an end. In the near future we'll have Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3 and a slew of other big name games right into 2012 and beyond. I'm happy enough with what's coming to not need a new generation!
