@HaVoK308 The movie comes with a demo of the boat level they keep showing, it is not the beta.
For other games doing this such as Uncharted beta codes in Infamous it is for advertising as multiplayer demos (and to a smaller extent server stress test). But normally there is a much smaller group to test the closed beta beforehand, giving in most of the feedback. Being in the LBP 2 closed beta before they opened it to playstation plus and other people I know that there was a ton of changes made to the final game based on feedback. R2 had this as well as R3 I am sure.
And of course a demo is a marketing tool, what other purpose does it serve for the dev?
@BananaBoat I am not angry at those videos and commentaries, but just hearing half of the things said were about cuts, most of which sounded awesome, made me sad I couldn't use them. If crusher tests, this new gel, and other things aren't in DLC then I think they should have taken a page from the Insomniac moon. It's cool to actually play with the cut things, they were there, it's not like they have to make extra stuff for it.
@Captain Sidekick Also it's the same person that made the identical to the original flow, flower, and the dogfight level, which I think have all been posted on this site. He is just doing incredibly in the beta.
I think it's biggest problem is that the games (the ones it actually gets that is) still cost more than umds and rarely are there sales. So many games from last year are still 40 dollars.
