New Steam daily deal launches with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising for $5

May 16th 2011 9:17PM (Joystiq)
@Virus one

If interested in some Co-Op mission play or multi- or whatever it has, let me know as I got it for cheap on a previous Steam sale, and I hate to admit that I have not gotten past the second mission. There are many reasons for that fact, and unfortunately amongst those reasons is a lack of planning, a failure to always kill what I shoot at, and some arbitrary time limits the game places on certain missions without always telling you what they are in advance.

I still like the game quite a bit. Shoot a request if interested. I believe my Steam name is DeathOfficio--I would know for sure if I was not stuck at work reading Joystiq.

Shift 2 'Legends' DLC brings some classic cars out of the garage

Apr 22nd 2011 12:09AM (Joystiq)
@Shockwave

I have no idea why, but I was able to drive the cars in the first game without issue, but still felt that the game needed something although admittedly I did not know what, but in any event, it did not hold my attention for long.

I did go out and buy Shift 2 within a few days of release expecting that they may have figured out what it needed to maintain my interest. Maybe autolog would have done the trick. The few days I had the game I was digging the autolog aspect of the game, but the game itself was so frustrating to play autolog could not keep me from returning it to where I bought.

Oddly, in spite of the store's no refund policy on opened games and software, I told her that an exchange would be pointless since the game is "broken fundamentally". I offered to point her to a few select websites that discuss that fact, but she did not need be to do that, and in no time I had a full refund in hand. It was almost like I was not the first person to tell her that and I probably wasn't.

What really ticked me off is that none of the many reviews of the game I read discussed that broken aspects of the game play, particularly with a wheel peripheral, but any websites where it is discussed amongst gamers themselves, you at least get the truth. All of the review sites did gamers a disservice by not pointing out the truth about the turd that is Shift 2......a big steaming turd alert was warranted.

Shift 2 'Legends' DLC brings some classic cars out of the garage

This DLC would actually matter if the game was not miserable to play. If these cars drive like the others, all you are paying for is 14 new cars that will handle like boats being driven by drunken pirates tripping on acid.

I really wanted to like this game but it was unplayable.....

Battlefield 3 trailer seeks out explosive situations

@pierogi210

I have to admit that I generally prefer console games to PC games, but just because I had a chance to pick up BFBC 2 on PC for $10, I decided to grab it a few weeks ago, and I have to admit that it was amzing how much better the visuals were on PC. I felt like it was a different game almost, so I agree with you there. If the new game on console is as good as the last game on PC, then that would be a treat for the console gamers.

That is one of the first times I had seen that happen where the console version was almost a joke when compared to PC, but admittedly, I don't pick up that many games on PC as I did not have a pc that could handle them until recently. I still prefer the console version and would probably purchase that one first anyway as that is way most of my friends play.

Killzone 3 beta preview: Exo mechs, jet packs and Helghast, oh my!

@PR0F3TA

If you still have that beta code, I would be happy to take it out for a spin for you, and will return the favor with a future beta code as I seem to be getting quite a few lately, with the exception of KZ3 sadly.

Either way, very cool of you to offer it up. Take it easy.

Dreamcast Returns on PSN and XBLA this year

Jet Grind Radio was the best. I played that for hours on end. To this day, I cannot believe how great it was for the time. If that can reproduce the original in identical form, it is a no brainer...

Joyswag: Alpha Protocol-themed 8GB iPod Touches [update]

May 26th 2010 4:19PM (Joystiq)
After a long day of getting their "spy" on, most spies use the iPod Touch to chill out by listening to their "Music to Spy By" playlist featuring spy favorites, including, the Mission Impossible Theme song, the James Bond Theme song, and if the kids are listening, they may throw the theme from Spy Kids as well.

They might also use the bomb-making app, strap the iPod to some C-4, blow some sh-t up!
