Guitar Hero '80s edition in June -- maybe July

May 2nd 2007 3:56AM (Joystiq)
There's not a whole lot of 80s stuff I care for (at least not 80s stuff that would fit into a GH game) but I'd love to see a classic rock version, chock full of stuff like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Clapton, Eagles, The Who and other stuff like that. GH2 does actually provide some good selections in that department (I've had Deep Purple's "Hush" going through my head quite a bit lately after playing it) but I'm not a big fan of the newer stuff.

Jaffe un-promises, Calling All Cars delayed

May 1st 2007 11:45PM (Joystiq)
Is it just me, or do there seem to be an awful lot of prima donnas in game development lately? If I was the Gamespot reviewer I'd give the game a 5.6 next time around just to see how much he flies off the handle...

Bandit Run offers T/A lovers a chance to be Burt for a day

Oddly enough, the Buford T. Justice fan club convention will be held that same weekend.

Is it a problem if I got distracted after the second question?

How to make the DS better

Mar 24th 2007 2:41PM (Joystiq)
I'd like to see the ability to play GB/GBC games on the DS (I still keep a GBA SP around for a few of those.) Even if the hardware isn't there, I think it would be possible to do software emulation. It might be possible to do this through Virtual Console, but I'd prefer a way that allows physical cartridges to be played.

Apple TV to serve as casual games console?

Mar 7th 2007 11:49PM (Joystiq)
If Apple got into the console games market, they'd only manage to pick up a 2-3% market share, but that 2-3% would toss out all their other systems, spend inordinate amounts of time trolling blog comments, and fail to realize three years down the road that Bejeweled 2 remains their killer app.

I'm reminded of that "Graffiti" art people make by cleaning the dust off of portions of a dirty sidewalk... Not bad.

Killing us softly with a PS3 song

Feb 25th 2007 3:43AM (Joystiq)
I think I saw the best summary of what Sony has done wrong with the PS3 today at the local Fry's. There was a stack of PS3s (at least 30) sitting in the middle of the aisle, with a big sign on top reading "Financing available." Ignoring for a second the fact that Fry's would try to get you to finance a USB cable if they could get away with it, that seems to be a good sign that your product is way too expensive.

Massive Google hard drive survey turns up very interesting things

Feb 19th 2007 1:16AM (Engadget)
In my experience, I had good luck with Maxtor drives right up until a couple of years ago, now I've had 3 fail on me in the last 2 years (one of the failures being a warranty replacement for the first one.) At this point, I'm hesitant to trust them anymore. Seagate and WD seem to be the recommendations around here these days. Then again, my brother's still got one of my old IBM Deathstars running in one of my previous systems, and still going after six years...

AOU 2007: Cave's Muchi Muchi Pork shmup released (from its sty)

Feb 17th 2007 9:58PM (Joystiq)
As for being a Cave fan, I've got Donpachi and Dodonpachi on PCBs for my cabinet. I'd like to get ESP Ra De, but my cabinet doesn't have enough buttons for it right now.
