One-quarter of Humble Indie Bundle downloads were pirated

Jun 7th 2010 11:25PM (Joystiq)
ffs im sick of hearing this BS about humble indie bundle piracy. As if everyone is running to torrent sites for it. No: The humble indie bundle sends you an email link that makes it easy to "share" the game. My mate bought it, logged in on my PC and downloaded them. That is what everyone is counting as piracy and that is total BS. The devs encourage it- make sharing links a feature- someone in your circle of friends can buy it and you all get free copies- that makes a purchase attall more likely and gives them the exposure they need. Also I'm guessing that whenever a game is downloaded from a link onto 2 different ip addresses they count this as piracy. Do they just want coverage? I haven't researched this that hard but I'm pretty sure it's what is going on. So shutup with your misconstrued, mispresented figures u w****rs. rant over

There is also Dungeon Hero. I thought the main reason dungeon crawlers weren't more like Gears was because they were longer and so couldn't be more involved and carefully tuned like Gears Of War by their nature. All the kills were therapeutic, and you could largely play with one hand on the mouse. Maybe it occasionally got intense but that didn't need a cover system.

This just sounds like something else. I bet it clocks in at 15 hours.

Hands-on: PlayStation Eye's Kung-Fu Live

@JCD

Yeah putting the camera on your side might work- on screen you'd then be looking forward instead of out, but naturally enemies sneak up behind you, so you'd have to flail backwards whilst still looking forward at the TV, to hit them. Guess that would make backflipping and elbow jabs important. Unless you had a 2 TVs plugged in infront of you and behind? XD

This is key software to take into the motion control argument: A control scheme that uses just the camera supposedly works with this established genre- what other genres shall fall next? Natal will jump on this bandwagon too I spose. Not casual short lived minigames anymore!

Other issue is that game characters have stylish animation and appearance whereas you just move like yourself- It's an aisle of content developers can no longer make for the game. But they could train you in combos and styles that are more effective against enemies? Special moves like wedgie yourself whilst headbutting for super effectiveness? And maybe it will do precanned animations using a scan of you.

I hope they can reskin your in-game character. Put sunglasses on you. Give yourself bosoms, pig tails, the latest designer clothing from Calvein Klein DLC, do bruising and cuts, or just completely replace you. If it can do that then I won't have to look at myself, which would be nice. And, you know, It can be about exotic Jeff from Japan again, as oppose to man-in-living room. I anticipate some of this stuff will only be possible on Natal/Wave.

Also, online play against your friends? Yes please. That would be a serious hook.
