Galley Gossip: There's more to Miami than La Carreta

Aug 12th 2008 11:25AM (Gadling)
It could be worse - my first airline, my main route was generally out to the Australian mines - Especially Ballera Gas Field. The sunny town of Ballera consists of the following :
-A gas mine you never visit for obvious reasons
-Miner bunkhouses, which you never visit for obvious reasons.
-A tin shack that could charitably be described as an airport terminal
-A Runway and a small area of blacktop, big enough to park a small jet or two - I mean, Fokker F100 or smaller size, here.
-Scorching heat.
-Surrounding desert, and lots of it.

And you're stuck there for a minimum of two hours, twiddling your thumbs.

Galley Gossip: Naked on a plane - everything you ever wanted to know, and more...

Aug 8th 2008 3:46AM (Gadling)
Once, on a long haul flight, out Purser - a Very long-time flyer - Cracked up for unknown reasons, and after sneaking quite a bit of booze, stripped naked.
Thankfully we were able to stop her from walking the aisles like this, but As the next on the seniority chain, I was thrown into a very odd situation.

The hundred gadget giveaway: round 34

Sep 12th 2007 6:21AM (Engadget Mobile)
Hello engadget fellows and ladies,

I am indeed posting because I would like to win.

Why should I like to win this competition, the hundred gadget giveaway?

Because I'm a First year(First six months, actualy) Flight attendant, and having paid for my own training, uniforms, and flown to many interviews, I'm terrible impoverished - I can still pay for food, rent, and not much else.
I don't even have a mobile phone - a virtual necessity for a Flight attendant - and I can't afford one. If I win, I'll have one.

Anyway, I'll leave you to read the thousands of other comments.

Thanks,

Churba

"the RIAA will shut this down quickly .. recording streams to mp3's. Didn't Sirius and XM have issues with this."

Not down here, dude - The RIAA, in Australia, doesn't have the power to pull the skin of a rice pudding.

But as for that we're not a nation covered in wi-fi - Well, I'd say the product is mostly aimed at those in the city - Most of the Brisbane CBD and Southbank has wireless that you can hook into, for example, and home users who want to use it around the house.

Shower 2.0: now with more air, less water

Nov 10th 2006 10:20AM (Engadget)
This is better for us than you'd think, American Commenters - After all, you are not the ones in the guts of a major drought.

Practicly no news in this post?

Of course not.

You don't hear every damned day about how low the water levels in your dams are, and then in the same breath hear about how the Almost Moorewellian moonbats shoot down every scientifically viable solution offered, without knowing a damned thing about what they are protesting - all while giving stupid advice like "Well, you could install rainwater tanks!" - Thus Really kinda missing the point that we are in a Drought, Which means that it rains 4/5ths of 5/8ths of Bugger all.

Hey, at Least your country has enough of a pair to declare and continue a war despite it being the unpopular path.

Ours doesn't even have the Balls to stand up and tell a bunch of Dumbass hippies where to shove it, and just do something that might just possibly be the right thing to do, despite that it might make them a little more unpopular.

Xbox 360 selling well in Australia

Oct 26th 2006 11:08PM (Joystiq)
Well, Consider, if you will, we only have a population of just over twenty Mil - the difference is that sales will pick up on the X-box 360 down here as they drop in price - because they Currently sit past the $600 Mark.

Hell, the PS3 is going to cost us around $900 Per unit, the way things are looking, so how well do you think that is going to sell?
