Laser-Accurate microphone proves once and for all that everything is better with lasers

Sep 21st 2009 2:44PM (Engadget)
If this proof-of-concept can be made into an actual product, I will officially feel like I am living in the right decade. This sounds incredible and would be nothing short of revolutionary microphone technology if it is anything close to what is written here.

I can't wait to hear more about this.

Nissan's Leaf EV will sound like a Blade Runner spinner, get better mileage

As a cyclist, I enjoy silence too much.
I have this 'problem' with people not knowing I'm approaching and then as I whissshhh past them, they sh!t their pants.

I will fight tooth-and-nail for this feature to remain exclusive to cyclists!

First USB 3.0 product gets certified, floodgates get closer to breaking

I can't verify all of that, but I can verify that they weren't first with USB, but they did push it heavily with the iMac.

PCs had USB ports before iMac did, but they didn't rely on them as exclusively as the iMac did and more than likely they didn't have an as 'iconic' computer to push this fact as Apple did, giving the impression they were first when they weren't.

I'll only buy it if it makes the whooosh sound in airless space, like the best sci-fi movies.
Otherwise, I'll leave the leaf alone.

Safety in space is my utmost concern.

I'll get USB 3.0 when it's integrated into a sub $100 mainboard.
Until then...

The ad is excellent.

PSP Go unboxing in video and pictures

Sep 21st 2009 12:32AM (Joystiq)
PSP + Media Go software (free) = download any PSP game just like the PSP Go from Windows PC. Plus play UMD.

PSP Go: $250
16GB storage. Bluetooth. Smaller size. 3.8 inch screen. Non-removable battery.

PSP: $170
PSP and 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo to match storage on PSP Go (add $65-$70) = $235-$240
Larger 4.3 inch screen. Removable batteries (carry a spare and replace aging battery when it can no longer hold suitable charge). More comfortable controls. Less compact.

* Both download games identically (please stop thinking the PSP only does UMD, or that the PSP Go is introducing something new by downloading).
* The downloaded games are identical and play identically in all PSP hardware. No changes.

The choice is yours.
