Cursed Mountain dev Deep Silver Vienna shuttered

Jan 31st 2010 7:47PM (Joystiq)
...I thought this said "Cursed Mountain Dew" at first. I'd like to see this imaginary product actually brought to market.

Wii sales surpass NES; DS Nintendo's best-selling hardware ever

More sales, nowhere near the software quality.

Not that this is anything new to the industry.

The Beatles: Rock Band raises $217,780 for charity (so far)

"Pretty pathetic" - you must not know anything about RB's usual DLC sales. That's a strong number, especially considering how long the game has been out - one of the fastest selling Rock Band pieces of DLC ever.

Shut up if you don't know what you're talking about.

Lost Planet 2 adds Gears of War's Marcus and Dom

Jan 26th 2010 2:26PM (Joystiq)
"will have their grizzly visages added to Lost Planet 2 in the form of bonus costumes."

As COSTUMES? As in, skins? Not sure if that's what you meant in the article or what. If it's just essentially a skin for the regular characters, forget it.

If there are tangible differences between Marcus/Dom and the other characters, then I'll be interested.

Report: 'Nintendo, Mario in the world 1000 million for the new Wii'

Jan 25th 2010 1:15PM (Joystiq)
Best comment of the week.

Now, who would be Conan here? Letterman?

I'm leaning towards Street Fighter as Letterman - appealed to a "new audience" and really took off after Mario had been around for a while, but at this point is getting kind of old as well.

Conan I'm not sure on. Something that has just gotten popular in the last 10-15 years that all the kids like...GTA? Halo?

Rhythm game devs: genre hasn't peaked, user-generated content is key

Jan 25th 2010 11:46AM (Joystiq)
Guitar Hero has peaked until/unless they come out with something that turns the genre on its head and gives the series a shot in the arm.

Rock Band may have peaked - it's hard to tell. RBN absolutely has the potential to reinvigorate the genre, but they sure are taking their sweet time with it. Going the GH route with band games isn't too reassuring either.

They really need to get RB3 out this year to capitalize on RBN fully, and with Green Day the next thing to arrive I'm starting to wonder if it's going to happen.

Wrong. It hasn't.

Also, "Sagitittyus" would be a better name.
