TUAW Guide: Xbox 360 and Mac

Apr 16th 2007 11:38AM (TUAW.com)
Does anyone know of a free (open source codec) other than flip4mac to encode wmv on the Mac?

Boo Hiss: No Netflix Watch Now for the Mac

Jan 19th 2007 6:11AM (TUAW.com)
As your previous posters say Apple is to blame in part for this - sure we don't want DRM but we do want the option to play DRM protected content on the Mac. This is really going to hurt mac users in the short term (i.e until DRM dies or is replaced by something more sinister) unless Apple steps up to the table and opens up Fairplay. That said there could be a big win for Microsoft if they sorted out their media player for Mac before Apple opens up their system. I honestly think Apple has made a mistake here.

Hands on with 360 IPTV

Are these timescales just for the US - are there any indications of when IPTV will be available for UK XBox owners?

Xbox 360 v. 2 revealed, codename "Zephyr" [update 1]

Jan 5th 2007 6:26PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I just got my console and don't consider myself an early adopter after having waited a year after the 360 launch to buy. If the console I recently bought has defects that Microsoft feels it needs to fix, perhaps they should have put some disclaimer on the box - warning me before I bought a sub-standard bit of kit.

This news has left me a bit pissed off

Debunking a PSP myth: it has no good games

Jan 4th 2007 9:31AM (Joystiq Playstation)
There are some good games for the PSP but as many have said here they are either based on (bad) franchise extensions or direct rehashes of PS2 classics. What is missing from the platform is the innovation from the game developers imho? For example how many games take advantage of infrastructure mode to allow players to play across the web. Sure the latest GTA game allows five players to play against each other but I for one don't know anyone with a PSP let alone someone who i'd like to stand next to for an hour or so to play. MarioKart DS allowed players to compete against each other from around the world from day 1. The PSP has so much untapped potential already maybe Sony and the publishers should concentrate on that first rather than thinking about redesigning it.

You need to have the latest firmware update (6.3) installed on each Airport Express for multiple speakers to work.
