@Chichok
And I'm sure voting in online polls is what they're prioritising right now

I think it's more the "treating your customers like faceless piles of money." And the poor customer service.

Did either of you *try* using the pro-guitar to learn how to play? They don't even attempt to teach you how to actually play guitar - they just treat it like another, more complicated controller.

In contrast, RockSmith actually tries to teach you how to play the instrument. It goes a decent job, but there's still *a lot* of room for improvement (ex. display actual tabs or sheet-music, rather than numbers falling down the screen; teaching scales/improvisation; etc.).

That's their big innovation - the track is curved?

I think they need to expand more into the "actually teach you how to play an instrument" concept to compete with eg. Rocksmith

Microsoft responds to claims of Xbox 360 hard drives storing old credit card info

Also, even if the CC-info isn't ever on-disk, the old login info definitely was, so that might be recoverable. The researchers could have gotten access to a former account, and said something like "we got access to your credit-card" for hyperbole.

It's not as clear-cut as that. Things are written to the hard-drive that shouldn't be all the time. For instance, the swap-file stores the contents of memory on the hard-drive to free up memory for other things (like games). The hibernation file does the same thing in order to hibernate. The contents of webpages are stored in the browser's cache, on the hard-drive (though it shouldn't be for secure pages..).

I don't think XBox 360 has a hibernation file, but it *does* have a swap file and a browser cache. And who knows, there could be other things that cause the credit-card info to be accidentally written. All of this information would remain on the hard-drive after formatting, as formatting does not actually erase anything.

Wiping the HDDs *should* clear the contents, but if MS does a poor job (entirely possible), it would still be possible to recover the data using forensic tools. However, these tools cost in the range of $10,000, so it's nothing something I'd be terribly worried about.

EA still in running for The Consumerist's Worst Company in America

It will be a close call between Facebook and EA, but I think Wal-mart will beat them both regardless.
