Ace Combat Assault Horizon comes in for a retail landing October 11 [update: trailer!]
May 11th 2011 9:03PM (Joystiq)There are encounters at range. Close Range Assault is a fully optional mode, you are not always tailing aircraft. If you watch the trailer you'll notice a green circle that gradually gets bigger, and when it fills the full screen it zooms in and enters you into CRA mode.
The thing is, why are you playing Ace Combat for anything even related to realism? I feel like in all of the previous AC games (which I spent hours S-ranking) I would try and maneuver my plane to see cool stuff, like what happens by design in Close Range Assault mode, in 4, 5, Zero, and 6. In addition, giant flying fortresses aren't exactly plausible either, so why not fighting at ultra close range? I've heard a lot of people making your point, but it never makes sense to me no matter when I hear it.
