More graphics you won't be seeing in-game [update 1]
Jan 5th 2007 1:37AM (Joystiq)FYI, I don't even own a PS3, but having owned a 360 so far ('bout 3 months now) it's just "meh" Live is ruined by obnoxious teenage wiggers, games are short, have no v-sync, have poor framerates. Plus it's loud, runs hot, etc.
Gears' local co-op is really it's only saving grace.
Anyhoo, this'll be my last post in this shitty thread 'cause going by previous comments... it won't get any better (but I look forward to reading your fanboyish troll-like responses tomorrow, much like every sony related post).
G'night :)
More graphics you won't be seeing in-game [update 1]
Jan 4th 2007 7:17PM (Joystiq)Why is it so hard to believe... 'cause nothing on the 360 looks as good?
You may not want to face facts, but as time progresses the PS3 is going to outshine the 360 (graphically) by increasingly large margins.
Square-Enix's "White Engine" should be proof enough of this.

Nov 18th 2006 5:54PM (Joystiq)Riiiiiiiiiiidge Racer! Xbox 360 vs. PS3 screens
Nov 14th 2006 5:04PM (Joystiq)1080p = 2,073,600px
720p = 921.600px
Thats a little more than 50% more pixels... try 125% (the PS3 has more geometry even!).
PS3 SUPERIOR? hmm... maybe, depends on how much more they can squeeze out of the 360.
But with newer 360 games disabling v-sync, AA or both just to maintain 30fps at 720p (or in a few cases not even actually at 720p) it doesn't seem like the 360 will be able to keep pace as devs learn to use the cell proc at it's full potential.
PS3's B.C. problems and how to blow it out of perspective
Nov 14th 2006 1:35PM (Joystiq)That comparison would only be relevant if the 360 could output the game in native 1080p.
As for the BC, I wonder if they'll allow region-free PS1/2 compatibility via a software update in the near future.

Nov 3rd 2006 5:41PM (Joystiq)My guess is it'll play anything (via Linux) after Mplayer or MPC are ported.
Which begs the question; How fast can it boot into linux ?
Critics still coming to terms with Wii's "next-gen-ness"
Oct 25th 2006 12:40AM (Joystiq)Games are a visual medium and with the competion using high-end GPUs/CPUs the Wii has a huge hurdle to jump right out of the gate.
ps. graphics & gameplay are not mutually exclusive, personally I'd rather have both.

Oct 20th 2006 9:38AM (Joystiq)About the "Pseudo-HDTV" comment; it has nothing to do with OTA tuners, just resolutions, if your set isn't 1080i/p or 720p it's not an HDTV.
1080i, 720p 480&576i/p are the only allowed resolutions (not including anamorphic variations of course) in the U.S. (ATSC), Japan (ISDB) & Europe (DVB). 1280x768 & 1366x768 or any other computer monitor resolution is not technically an HDTV.
So keep enjoying your non-square pixel 15:9 pseudo-HDTV :)
2. Because HDTVs will not accept any non-encrypted HDMI connection, if you want to use HDMI you need HDCP there is no alternative.
Analog Output = No HDCP = No HDMI.
3. http://www.hdmi.org/press/pr/pr_20060622.asp
Something wrong with buying a future proof tv?
"Also you still haven’t came up with any good points why HDMI is better then component hook ups."
No need to, because component looses quality during the Digital->Analog->Digital conversion making HDMI better by default.
Even if you personally can't see the quality difference... trust me, it's there.
And your subjective "tests" mean nothing, what looks good to you will most likely look awful to someone else and vica-versa.
