Best holiday moment was playing through Gauntlet for NES in its
entirety while the rest of my family sat around "talking" and lame
stuff like that.

Fallout 3 set for an October 28th retail release

Aug 20th 2008 4:21PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Wasn't this supposed to launch way earlier in the month, like the 8th or so? Man, that would have been a ton better; now we have this, Dead Space, Guitar Hero World Tour, MK vs. DCU, Left 4 Dead and Gears of War 2 all coming out in the span of under 2 weeks. Feel like earlier in the month would be a ton better (for the success of the game and my own personal timeframe as well).

Would love this to be true (Tornado of Souls!!), but so much of it reeks of not likely. Angel of Death's lyrics MAY be a little much for a GH game, and it wouldn't censor very well.

Wii Warm Up: Still Fit?

Jul 21st 2008 9:01AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Used it for a few weeks, then the girlfriend and I got REALLY bored with it and sold it on eBay. I love the factual way in which Feba states that "Wii Fit becomes more fun as you play it" when we found the exact opposite to be the case. The novelty wore off mad quick, and (like someone said above) there really isn't too much "game" to Wii Fit, so that novelty is really all there was to it for us.

E308: Highlights from Nintendo's keynote

Yeah, really REALLY bad showing. With such a barren release schedule, I was expecting a ton of new apps to be unveiled (Kid Icarus, Pikimin, Punch-Out) but really there was nothing (especially since I couldn't possibly care less about Animal Crossing). No word on a hard-drive or external storage, plans for downloadable content or anything of the sort. A really crappy looking WiiSports 2 (I'd never have believed it would look this bad) and a WiiMusic that "doesn't evaluate your performance" (thank god Nintendo is always out to prevent the low self-esteem that comes from not doing well in games). No Disaster: Day of Crisis, Project HAMMER or a new WarioWare. But hey, we DO get to purchase a first-party add-on just to get functionality we were supposed to already have built into the Wiimote, hooray! This was a total bed-crapper, esp since Microsoft had a ton of good stuff to share...at least we've still got Conduit, Mad World and WarioLand Shake to look forward to.

Nintendo says: Only geeks and otaku want a harddrive

"Count me in the nerd pile, but also count me in the 'no longer buying downloadable content until a storage solution is provided', plain and simple."

Seriously, I could care less about being called a geek...but this geek is the one lining their pockets by pre-ordering consoles, buying AAA (and below) titles on Day 1, and downloading a metric ton of VC titles! I vowed awhile back to not download anything else on Wii until they get a better storage solution, and am happy to say I still haven't folded (though Nintendo isn't making it too difficult with crap like Pokemon Ranch).

WRUP: Exploding blocks edition

May 9th 2008 12:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Boom Blox, Boom Blox, maybe a little GTA4 before going back to Boom Blox. I've been somewhat negative on Wii lately (even being called a "hater" on this site), but man did this game win me over with a quickness. This is the type of app I bought the system for, totally unique experience that couldn't possibly be nearly as fun on any other console. I didn't think anything would be able to pry GTA out of my hands, but I haven't even touched it since I got Boom Blox on Wed. Don't sleep on this game!!!
