Jun 9th 2011 8:02AM (Joystiq)I really loved the original DMC, hated the second one, loved the third and never played the fourth. This, at least, has me interested.
Let's wait to play it and then judge.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer wants a future ... where everyone lives
Jun 8th 2011 9:55AM (Joystiq)Addendum:
This could also be a good game if they:
1. Give us back towns
2. Get a different composer. (The music in FFXIII was, at best, forgettable, and never synced with the environments).
3. Not have "Game Over" if your lead character is KO'd--just switch to another character.
4. Write a good plot.

Jun 8th 2011 9:51AM (Joystiq)Writing in FF games has never been fantastic--it's always been this melodramatic overuse of platitudes--but it wasn't a big deal when we could distance ourselves from it by reading the dialogue instead of being forced to hear it.
Ever since FFX, we've been forced to listen to manure pour out of character's mouths, along with every little loli squeak and sigh, and it's getting really old. (FFXII: you get a pass. Voice acting and writing were actually pretty good). And while SE has always given us the option for subtitles, there's never an option to turn off the voices and have *only* subtitles.
I'll make a deal with Square Enix. If they let me play this old-school--give me an option to turn off the voice audio but leave the music and SFX on--I'll buy this on day one. If not, I won't buy it at all.
