Spending some time with the DS browser

Jul 24th 2006 12:19PM (Joystiq)
CNN doesn't take 3 minutes to load on my PSP. It takes a few seconds. Also...I haven't had a problem with load times on the PSP. I start the game and then I put the PSP to sleep. When I start to play it again there is zero load times. Most people play it this way anyways.

SmackDown series to miss PS3 launch, making next-gen debut on Xbox 360

If a PS3 user wants this awful title, they can buy the PS2 version since the games will work on the PS3 at least, but I doubt the rednecks who play this crap will be able to afford an Xbox 360 or a PS3.

People complained about 15 second load times on the PSP, but they don't mind waiting 3 minutes for a web site to load. What morons!

I can't believe you people actually bought a Jessucka Simpson song and admitted it to the world! That's funnier than them trying to sell her crappy song with computer generated names! What a trip!

Should we consider the PSP dead?

Jul 20th 2006 9:59AM (Joystiq)
In North America, the PSP has outsold all next-generation handhelds since we launched in March 2005, with more than 4.7 million units sold. In May, according to NPD data, the PSP was the top-selling portable handheld at nearly 160,000 units. We're pleased with the success the PSP has achieved, and the next step is to build on that success with our core gaming audience to reach a wider mass market audience. One key finding in our market research is that many consumers don't understand everything the PSP can do. So starting this summer, we're embarking on a major marketing campaign to educate consumers about the multi-functionality of the PSP beyond gaming. It's a powerful device in a portable package, and this effort will help us continue the momentum that made PSP the No. 1 selling system in its class last year.

Short video of how the DS Opera browser will work

Doesn't the PSP already have a browser? If it's all about the games, why are they still trying to play catch up to the PSP?

DFC: Microsoft, Nintendo have "golden opportunity"

Jul 19th 2006 4:03PM (Joystiq)
I think Sony will sell as many PS3s as they can produce at Christmas time. It is very important for them to have millions of the things ready to go! I can't wait!

The main thing that I love about the Playstations is they play all the old games. I hated it when I owned other consoles and the old games wouldn't work. This is a very big selling point for Sony. Microsoft's lack of backwards compatibility is going to bite them in the ass. People hate it when they buy a product that isn't supported. Look how they dropped the original Xbox completely. I have a friend with the original Xbox and he is very pissed!

Gears of War still TBD, Too Human could slip to 2007
