Well, they could always simply lower the price of their new games, to a more manageable level. You know, because the used game market has very pointedly demonstrated how much people hate paying to much for their games. I think 30 dollars for a brand new title would be a good start. I know I'd start buying quite a few more games.
I'm telling you right now though, the day we are in a completely DD market, and the developers aren't the ones determining price points, you are going to see game sales plummet. Cheapassgamer.com is about as perfect an example as you could hope for when trying to answer the question, just how much effort will people go through to get the best value for their gaming dollar.
Publishers like to just let their digital junk rot at full retail price forever, and toss you a 25% bone every now and then. Hell Ubisoft would have had a bit more of my money for "From Dust" but I'm not paying more than 600 points for it.
Game is gorgeous, controls are tight and responsive, as well as the menus.
I am a little put off by the fact that the main character doesn't speak, but I suppose it's something you get used to.
The combat was supposed to be a big selling point, and I think that is going to be the games bread and butter.
I just got out into the glade and I'm already loving running around grabbing up reagents, and farming animals for xp. This is exactly my kind of game. The one thing that ruins games like this is clunky gameplay (Dungeon siege anybody???)
Really excited for release. I haven't bought a full price game since Dark Souls. I'll be glad to support EA, Big Huge, and 38 Studios on this one.
@ShoTime Well if one were to give an argument to who is more deserving of an "Omnicient" moniker, I would go for the floating dude with a brain jar head, vs. the stupid looking lizard wizard wielding a cup of coffee?
I'm so frustrated that I've never been more stoked about a game that "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" and it being an EA published title just pisses me off.
I mean I know the game is going to be beyond amazing, but EA has sort of gone off the tracks.
Remember when Burnout Paradise came out, and they were releasing all this free DLC? They were like the darling of the gaming industry. This was after being the villain for so long, and then they started to rehab their image, and trust from the community, and now they are just shitting all over it again.
I know this is just the painful transition into an increasingly online market, but I'll be glad once the kinks are worked out, and being a gamer becomes something that is equally beneficial for both parties, instead of gamers repeatedly being bent over a barrel.
Agreed with the above. You ban from the forums, not from the game. Hell even if EA bans you from multiplayer should never affect your ability to play your title in offline mode.
Stop buying digital copies of games, problem solved. Seriously though, this should be illegal that a company can ban you from accessing games you've paid for. Maybe it's reasonable to revoke multiplayer privileges, but to tell someone they can't play their purchased game ever again is downright criminal.
While I'm not really one to be accepting of this sort of crap, at least they didn't name the child one of the new "canned" names young adults come up with. I swear to god I have so many personal friends, that all named their kid the same thing. Either Madelyn, or some derivative, and Tristan or some derivative.
Still it's not like naming your child after a video game character is that much more creative.
I share your solidarity. Of course I've always been of the mind that people that buy these map packs at these prices, don't really have a great handle on cost vs. value mechanics.
I'm sure some would say "It's as valuable as the buyer perceives it to be" but that just doesn't fly. There was this small window when XBLA, PSN, and DLC content might have been significantly cheaper (and in my opinion) correctly priced, but during that window publishers experimented with charging more than normal and found that enough people bought it to make it worth their while.
It's not a good thing when just a few people hold all the keys. There isn't any competition at that point, and a commerce system without competition sucks for the consumer.
Who has access to 5 PS3's? That's (in most cases) completely stupid.
While I don't know *why* you are allowed to share games (Xbox certainly doesn't allow it and perma bans you if you game the system) I doubt the intention was to allow you only to put it on 5 PS3's you own.
