The Barnes and Noble Nook (competition to the Amazon Kindle look it up), allows the user to lend books to friends so they may read them. When the book is lent out, a lock is placed on the book on the original users device. So before you start claiming that anyone who wants to lend digital content is obviously a pirate please inform yourself as to what other industries are doing first. I see no reason as to why Sony and Microsoft if they wanted to could not implement the same measure, at the same time I realize they most likely never will.
Now I really want the Left 4 Dead multiplayer in my Gears. If they can't mimic it completely, then just allow some people to go on the Horde side. I would love to do Horde mode knowing that once or twice a round I would be facing a human opponent, and they could be a ticker/sniper/grinder etc.
1.) You don't have to pause the game, or if your playing online, die a bunch of times while you pick up the phone to call your friend
2.) Because I don't have a wireless headset for my home phone
3.) Because I would rather press 2 buttons while I am playing my game to start a chat then go through the pain of exiting my game or using that horrible text message screen
4.) Because I don't want to tie up my home phone line or use the minutes on my cell phone to chat with someone when they are online
If you are not paying for an XBL account already, this probably sounds like a good deal. I am, and I don't see enough to make me want to switch or double pay. Now, if they had said something like "Medal of Honor demo will end on XBL in July, but will keep going on the PS3 and 1 more map will be added before October." That would peak my interest. In its current state, they will just shovel games that haven't sold very well or will have trouble selling again.
The key to stopping piracy on any platform is make people want to go online. I love my gamerscore and as such would never dream of modding my 360. On the PC publishers just need to give into Valve. Stop trying to sell your physical copies and let PC lead the way to day 1 downloadable games. As well, don't try to do this yourself, Valve has years of experience doing this, you will only mess it up.
I also want a unified gamerscore while I am at it. I want my friends on the 360 to know I am currently online playing Uncharted on the PS3 and what trophies I have. If the publishers could force Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft to implement that (I feel Valve would be all for it), I feel piracy goes down across the board. I am not going to risk my gamerscore getting set back to 0 because I decided to use an R4 cartridge on my DS, (yes even make Nintendo put achievements into their handhelds).
Activision, EA and Ubisoft are delighted to be able to use the facial recognition that Natal offers to help stop used games sales. If the user is not a recognized, authorized user, they can give a thumbs up to have their credit cards charged $10 to unlock premium features like "online", or they can extend their middle finger and such premium features will be locked.
If you want to make it easier on yourself, don't use any cars you unlock for the first little bit. I got 1st on all the 1st and 2nd episodes by using one of the default cars. Remember, the rubber banding is not based on what level you are playing, but the level of your car.
They have an unlock code for 560 MS points which unlocks all the cars in the game. So, if you don't pay you will have a nice time bringing up the rear of the pack while everyone else is racing in their top tier cars.
No way to specify which cars can be used in race + give the ability for everyone to have the fastest cars in the game by paying for it = not a very good time online
