I played the game at a friends on release day and afterwards ran out and got a copy for myself. Maybe a week or two later we were hanging around outside Black Burrow chatting with people and for the first time ever I saw a druid casting SoW and going into tree form and walking around. All I knew as a Ranger was weak attacks and easy deaths at my low level of under 10. But I saw things in that Druid that I didnt expect in the game.
After talking to him he buffed my friend and I up and told me we should go to Freeport and there are some great places to fight there. He leaves and my friend and I decide to just try and go to Freeport. By the time we got to North Karana we almost died many times but finally saw a blue con Griffawn and deciced to kill it so our path would be easier. It destroyed us both and ended up camping our corpse. I deleted my Ranger and made a Halfling Druid and didnt change characters again for years.
Thats my earliest but far from my only memory.. EQ will go down in history as one of the greatest games and I was happy to be apart of it. I actually go back a few months each year to check things out still.
I dont get why people still wish for Sony to add PS2 functionality on its newer consoles.. they dont add things like that because the PS2 is still a hugely selling console on its own. Its not dead like Xbox 1/Game Cube. Games are still being made and bought on it .. there is no reason for Sony to give up on something thats still brining in cash on its own.
I would make an Illusion based character who also has mental powers.. a true magician who is able to make you think you see something you dont and to also feel/experience things from mental attacks on the mind/body.
To compensate for power I would have to be an ugly, short, fat beastly of a man - but would be able to use my powers to trick any hot chicks into thinking I am her dream man! haha
I have played it both ways, and while PC will look better overall.. I think its so action oriented that its just a better fit on the PS3. Granted if you use a controller on the PC it should pretty much be the same, but overall I think it will draw more from console people than PC people.
I really do like the L2/R2 control and how you use the hotkeys with them vs how you have to spam click on the mouse. Game plays alot like Ultimate Alliance 2 in regards to controller use.
I would eat Ted WIlliams frozen brain.. probably in some kind of slurpee/milkshake kind of way! Then hopefully I could hit the crap out of baseballs and other people/zombies.
Playing Everquest 1 in 1999 I was wandering around exploring new places, I went into a zone and died. I had to go back to find my corpse to get all my items, money and stuff like that. Well the mobs were at the zone line now and killed anyone who entered the zone. Before long there were about 10 of us standing there who lost everything we worked for at that time.
