Feb 9th 2010 10:11AM (Autoblog)BREAKING: GM reaches agreement to sell Saab to Spyker!
Jan 27th 2010 2:02AM (Autoblog)And they've already started work on a new 9-3, so they won't be rebadging anything. If you had any idea, you'd have a job where you wrote this much about cars, but instead you're on this site typing the same boring essay over and over.
BREAKING: GM reaches agreement to sell Saab to Spyker!
Jan 27th 2010 1:48AM (Autoblog)You're all underestimating the importance of management and independence. Spyker managed to get this deal done when everyone said it'd never happen.
People will pay for good design -- just look at the money Apple is raking in. I have my first Saab and my next car will be a Saab. I get it and like how SAAB does things and so do a lot of people. You don't have to like it or agree and you can name-drop platform code-names all day long, but in the end it's the public and their spending who decides who wins. And I know they don't care what platform their new 9-5 is built on as long as it looks good, drives well and is reliable. Well, the new 9-5 looks good, from what I've read from accounts of people who have driven it, it drives well and time will only tell how reliable it is. With all the SAABs I see on the road, which are quite a few and never a spot of rust on them, I'd have to say they're pretty damn reliable.

Jan 24th 2010 4:39PM (Engadget)This was the only type of gadget featured in this section that I've ever wanted.
Would be useful when disassembling something (like when you're hacking your AppleTV), working outside (running cable for your new DSL setup to the demarcation point) or wiring something that requires you to have to have the power off (outlet or dimmers) and there's not enough natural light.
I vote that this one be taken off the list 'cause it's not even in the ballpark of those other pieces of crap.
Nexus One previewed with Flash 10.1 beta: careful what you wish for (video)
Jan 6th 2010 10:51PM (Engadget)Forget mobile, Flash isn't viable on anything portable. Every time I watch a Flash video on my 13" Unibody MacBook, it heats up so much, I can barely hear the audio over the fans. I just wiped and reinstalled Snow Leopard and tried to keep my setup minimal and not add anything that wasn't absolutely necessary, but only lasted half an hour before installing Click To Flash to stop Flash from loading in Safari at all. Having Click To Flash play the same content in Quicktime, there's no strain at all.
Every time I look at Activity Monitor, sorted for %CPU, Flash Player is always in the top three. Even when no video is playing and the browser is hidden.
It's ridiculous that this machine can run Office Apps within Windows XP, within VMWare, but playing a little Flash movie has it overheating.
