I have to say that this is my least favorite Mario Party yet. I appreciate that they got rid of that ridiculously annoying talking hat/magician thing from Mario Party 8....but I don't like the new "Captain" system. I get that it's supposed to put you at the mercy of whomever is piloting the ship, but apart from choosing a mini game or a path, they really don't have any control over what happens either. Apart from the mini games it feels like you're all pawns of the game. Granted, I've only played 5 or so games with it, but so far it doesn't seem to matter how well you do at any of the games or how many mini-stars you collect...everyone gets screwed over at the end and while in previous versions this kept things interesting down to the last turn, in 9 you get the sense that the game is being deliberately malicious. I'm still waiting for a human player to win a single game, so far the "easy" AI players have won every single time.
So after this article and the one about Zynga blatantly copying this game, I wanted to support Nimblebit and their game...but I own an Android so instead I just took a look at it on the AppStore.
Now, granted I have not been able to actually play the game, but just from the screenshot that they have on there...it looks A LOT like Mega Mall Story from Kairosoft. Does anyone know which one came out first?
